The first council meeting of the new year discussed the townships of Rideau, Goulbourn, West Carleton and the city of Kanata sharing a Municipal Energy Audit Programme in order to reduce costs and allow the Energy Auditor to check more buildings. City Council decided to temporarily suspend the City Curbside Paper Recovery Program. A new newsprint de-inking plant, soon to be operational, would require 100,000 tons of newspaper each year. We Celebrated International Talk Like a Pirate Day at my Chocolate Shop here in Melbourne, Australia. We had costume contests & colouring contests for kids and adults alike. Prizes went to the bests, as did Pirate bags loaded with chocolates, pirate pencils, stickers, hats, balloons & eye patches. We played Pirate Music from 9am-5pm and all of my staff dressed and talked like Pirates (with the help of Pirate Glossary.com). We printed off Glossary sheets & invited our custmers to talk like pirates as well!
