The verandahs and railings of the Courthouse in Maryborough, Queensland are so typically colonial. This wonderful old building, well, probably not wonderful to all the souls who have passed through over the years has been restored and very well maintained. It was built in 1877 and is the longest serving and oldest Courthouse in Queensland.

I won’t labour the history so here is the link to Wiki for those interested in reading about it.

Built in 1729, and at the time the largest building in the colonial city, the Old South Meeting House was a focal point of revolutionary ideas, protests, and the organizing point for the famed Boston Tea Party. Today, surrounded by the modern city it helped liberate, this National Historic Landmark is open to the public as a museum and continues to be a vital link to the city, and nation's history. Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

I saw this in another tent at the Freedom Days festival in Orem, Utah in early July. This reenactor was telling onlookers about the role played by Spain in America's war for independence. Shown is a map of the colonies along with the land claimed by Spain at the time.

Well then, I had a custom figure request from Tommy (Strange) for a Colonial Marine figure, and I'm not one to disappoint.

At least... I hope I'm not.

Also, I watched the Alien movies for the first time in a marathon Friday night, so that was another big boost on my desire to finish this guy.

14 hours, three helmets, and two different camos later, this guy was born.

The original Colonial Theater in Belfast, Maine, was opened in 1912 but levelled by fire in 1923. The current building on High Street was built in 1923 and restyled in 1947. The elephant sculpture, Hawthorne, was purchased from the local Perry’s Nut House and added in the 1990s.

One of the key figures in Colonial America was the gunsmith. Most British troops carried "Brown Bess" flint lock muskets while the Colonial Militias usually carried flint lock rifles, giving them the advantage of range but the well trained British Red Coats had the advantage of speed in repetitive fire. Happy Independence Day America.

We made our annual visit to Colonial Williamsburg to see the Christmas decorations.

It was a little different this year because of the pandemic. For one thing, the costumed interpreters were wearing masks.

Our visit to Williamsburg as part of our Motorcoach tour with Daniel’s Discovery Tours. The town was decked out for Christmas with handmade Christmas wreaths on each building. 🎄💚❤️⛄️

America began as colonies of England, France, Spain, and the Netherlands. The story of America as a nation must begin with the colonization of the East Coast.

Colonial Park Cemetery, Historic Disctric in Savannah, Georgia.

This was the second cemetery in colonial Savannah and was the burying ground for the city from about 1750 until it was closed against burials in 1853. The cemetery became a city park in 1896.

As always, your comments and faves are appreciated. Constructive criticism and suggestions are especially welcome as I believe they help to make me a better photographer. Thank you for taking the time to look at my photos.

This is one of my favorite local moves to shoot here in Charlotte. Sometimes the day shift switcher out of Pinoca Yard will make set-outs and deliveries to the Colonial Materials warehouse on the West Industrial Lead. If they’re running light, you can get a pretty neat view of the locomotive shoving almost all the way (and occasionally ALL the way) into the building. The run to Colonial Materials is an easy one to catch since the crew is required to call up the dispatcher for a signal out of Pinoca Yard to occupy the mainline before shoving onto the West Lead. Here’s a rare appearance of CSX 2807 (ex-Conrail 8266) with its high-clearance plow making a pickup at Colonial. Units with these plows rarely stray away from trackage in the northeast where electric third rails are a clearance concern, but this one found its way down south for some reason. Even rarer was the significant (for Charlotte) amount of snowfall on the ground! Charlotte, NC, 1/17/2022.

Candle

Shields Tavern

Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

While waiting for our lunches to be served in the lower level of Shields Tavern -- one of several colonial-era taverns in Colonial Williamsburg -- in April, I tried a few shots of the candle burning on our table. (The "other" candle behind this one is just a reflection on the glass chimney.)

Day 164 - Colonial Marine Officer - Although a little lighter of a "custom" figure than I usually do, I am none-the-less still very proud of this figure who is armed with a BrickArms rapier as well as a BrickArms prototype musket (which I have to say, is one of my favorite protos of BA, and I am anxiously awaiting for the eventual release!). I may still add a line of white at the top of the tri-corner hat, although, if I end up getting the PotC Whitecap Bay set, i can just use one of those. Hope you enjoy this fun figure!

The colonial transport vessel carries four HabLabs and a power plant/atmosphere scrubber to a distant new world. Each HabLab can sustain 10-12 colonists for up to five years before resupply is necessary, once they're installed on the planet surface and networked with the plant. The power plant has a life expectancy of 75 operational years.

The ship is going to be the biggest in the convoy, so far around 60 studs long. I still need to build the engines before I can show you the whole ship!
