... Goodbye Drift ... the house is empty already without you ... yesterday we shot the x-mas photo, and the same afternoon we had to let you go ... you were just able to put your teeth in the new reindeer I got you ... bye bye now, no more pain ...

Ruddy Turnstone, the algae have colored your legs and the foam has left its traces on your feathers... you turn and turn, turn around and turn again... to finally grab your trophy in your slender beak!...

macro mondays ... translucent ...

... at the age of 12 Drift has developed some cataract ... it doesn't mean he can't see anymore, it's just more blur ... fortunately dogs have more senses they can use ... he just uses his nose a bit better than he used to do :) ... so hedgehogs beware ! ...

... I don't know if a family member counts as a hobby, but besides photographing, I spend a lot of time with my dog Drift ...

... It's very hot the past few days in the Netherlands, so for lots of dogs that means swimtime. Drift goes swimming the whole year, in winter too. He's like an all-terraine dog, got an all-weather coat and his engine goes in full gear, and he's loving it :) ...

… Drift looking patiently while I take a picture of yet another insect … what is he thinking ? ... when will this chapter end, when will this phase be over, or when will the insanity stop ? …

… I had to make a photo for an article in our club magazine, it's about pain and the ways you can recognize it with your dog, since they're not very good at showing it to us humans, and we're not good at reading body language of dogs ... One of the things to be alert of is when dogs go lie differently, for example how Drift is shown lying here, it looks very uncomfortable but when he would have been in pain, he probably would spare a sore spot ... I've never given this much thought, and reckon it might be good to show it here too …

... Drift is not actually in pain, he's just being a good model ! ofcours the treats helped … he turned 11 only two days ago … can you see his age in his eyes ? ...

… I was complaining the other day to Todd I never could catch Drift in a relax mode or asleep, because when I grab the cam he always jumps up … he has a sixth sense for it, even when I'm really really quiet (for a human that is) … but today I got him :) he had his eyes closed when I pressed the button, but this is close enough … this poor dog was só tired of being away from us the whole weekend he couldn't be bothered to get up …

... Drift posing for a shot about financial issues of our kennel club ... I think he did a good job so he earned a lot of treats :) … yea yea … I'll pay up ...
