A reminder of warmer and lighter days earlier in the year. Colin performing well. Note the ISO setting used!

Looking northward from a location near the Tekarra Lodge, Jasper National Park, Alberta

It is testament to the rugged beauty of Jasper that I've driven the Maligne Lake road over fifty times and never stopped to photograph this view.

This trip, returning from Maligne Lake back to our campsite, the sky was fairly dramatic and sunlight was hitting only the face of the Colin Mountain Range. My son was driving and when he said, 'Wow!', I thought this must be photo worthy.

Had a wonderful day at Thursley Common with Sandra and Kevin and Charlie the Springer who was so good you wouldn't know he was there. Thank you so much for a wonderful day. I see 4 firsts. A Redstart, a Woodlark and a flying Emperor Moth, oh and a Dartford Warbler albeit from a distance and some record shots. Just had one of the most wonderful days, may have said that before. Wonderful.

Taken just at sunrise from near the summit of Stac Pollaidh, showing the unmistakable Suilven beyond Loch Sionascaig and the mist-clad Loch Veyatie, Cùl Mòr and Cùl Beag.

Colin the Carrion Crow posed for a few pictures this afternoon. He watches me with interest since I started leaving him a few suet pellets on my visits

Popped back to see how he was doing.

We arrived on site in ample time for "Colin's" matinee performance. He did not disappoint, entertaining the small audience for some 40 minutes ! he even showed his appreciation for the " buffet " by calling from his perch for several minutes.

We returned early the next morning and enjoyed a brief visit which was interupted by a crow and free roaming dogs, or maybe he just left as we were his only audience !

If anyone at Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp looked the role, it was Colin. He had no shiny white sneakers, no baggy shorts or t-shirt with a goofy slogan. He was coolness in his brown leather pants, skull t-shirt, and wall-to-wall, colorful tats.

But the best thing about Colin is that he brought cake. Rather, his girlfriend, sent one along for his fortieth birthday. I got to have a piece, and it, like much of the camp experience, rocked. It turns out she's the head pastry chef at Cake Love; she's the bakers' baker.

So yea for that, and yea for Colin for kicking ass last night—and for doing it just around the corner from forty.

And for just being a really nice guy!

Reaching back to September for another shot of the Canadian Rockies taken during our remarkable four day jaunt through Jasper, Yoho and Banff. On this particular morning, we were busy trying to set up shots of the boat house on the Northern end of Maligne Lake when I noticed the sun hitting the Colin Range in the distance. Not wanting to schlep around the 70-200 (which was left at home), I reached instead for the 24-70 and hoped for the best. It's worth pointing out that I cropped the heck out of this, but on a D800, the cropped image was still near 6000 pixels on the long end. We eventually made it out to Spirit Island later than morning, but I would have gladly frozen my butt off in the nearby campground to catch this light out there. Still trying to figure out how to pull that off in the future. In the mean time, I was pretty pleased with the performance of the Nikkor 24-70 considering this was taken not too far from the boat dock on the North end of the lake.

We didn't get to stay too long that morning. As soon as we came back from the cruise, we set off for Emerald Lake back in Yoho for the sunset and we barely made it there in time.

You should care about the poor lives of all the people out there, lost without even a little ray of hope. Not every organisation is going to become famous, but you can support them, no matter how big and how famous they are.

Do yourself a favour - Help them!

“I'll be in Los Angeles for two weeks and I'll have a laugh, get battered and have a buzz, but at the end of the day, I'll go home. It's just me earning a few more stories to tell everyone at home and all.”

As close as I can get to a Selfie, no time for that in the huge lineup. Photo taken by my partner on my cell phone. We were all laughing and people wanted to know who I was to get so much attention! It was due to meeting once before and a secret story we had shared with them about a time I was in their home country of Scotland.

See my note below to question of what the joke was.

Do you want to experience one of those essential NYC moments? Stroll through Washington Square Park on an overcast spring afternoon, and stop by under the arch to listen to Colin Huggins play Chopin on his grand piano. It's magical.

My second visit to see Colin the cuckoo. He didn't let me down.

A great pleasure to see the Colin James Trio at the Regent Theatre this evening. I've been a fan since his self-titled release in 1988.

ok, he was telling a story earlier that day of a drunken night when he was sitting next to a desk lamp and it fell over and hit him in the head. in a lethargic attempt to remove the annoyance from his personal space he pushed the lamp out of the way but his motor skills prevented a successful obliteration of the nuisance and so it continued to fall upon his head as he became angrier and angrier with the lamp until it appeared to those around him as if he was fighting with it, much to their amusement. we were at a party and i needed a portrait of colin for his upcoming part in the magazine i work for and so i came up with the idea of recreating the fight in a much more dramatic and staged atmosphere. i spent nearly three hours building the boxing ring with fold out chairs, christmas lights, and red ribbon in the garage of the house where the party was at. as i constantly repeated digi tests to get the spotlight effect just the way i wanted it, the party inside the house brought everyone into the perfect state of mind to where they would be good extras outside the ring. we found a costume and rattled as many frames as i could before i lost the enthusiasm of everyone involved who wanted to get back to the party.
