...while York Region is in the Red high risk code. But in the distance, the city is still trying to get work done before snowfall.
Whatever we like the autumn or not, it has come to the Nordics! The first snow fell last night.
I heard this song for the first time in October 2018, when Tom and his cousin performed it - and I love it! : "Forever Autumn" - Lake of Tears
Mother Nature, we believe in you
The sun was shining, no clouds
From the north, all the cold wind
I was walking on the ground
It was much surprise to see the flowers
In the spirit of fire and ice.
Small purple flowers, unexpected

It was predicted and sure enough that snowstorm hit Montreal and I believe Toronto also. You could hardly see, driving was treacherous and the winds were fierce. The snow kept on coming, one of Montreal's Winter Storms, well known by the population here.
With stormy weather and some road closures again, we had a bit of cabin fever and went out for a drive on the ones that were still open to see what we could find. To the north of us, darker skies and snow squalls underneath were visible but behind us, the sun peeked out between the clouds onto this scene and caught my eye. The road was deserted until I stopped to get out of the car for the shot and of course, a car immediately pulled up behind us and another in front. I had to move onto the side and hope the snow drifts weren't hiding a deep ditch. Sunlight on the windpump along with the contrast of rusty roofs set against darker skies were what appealed to me here. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Senescence is the process of aging at the cellular level, where cells stop dividing and become less functional. It can also refer to the aging of an entire organism.
I woke up with a weird feeling that this day wouldn't be the best. But after a few restless hours in the morning, we explored a beautiful forest and ended up at this amazing location in the evening. The moment the setting sun hit my skin in midst of the cold wind as I was taking photos here, the restlessness from the morning vanished and I felt completely relaxed and content.
And I still get the exact same feeling when I know I have taken photos I am happy with as I used to seven years ago. :')

I wake to a world covered in fog and spend my days not doing much until it gets dark again. In those hours before the world turns black I have the strong urge to create. I want to capture the last yellow leaves, the first November rain, the cold wind that brushes the outside of our house, how cosy my room feels at this time of the year, but sometimes I just stay in the moment. I try to enjoy it the way it is and wonder why it always feels like something is missing when I don't take photographs. It's never just beautiful or just cosy or just warm, it’s always fading and unsettling and cold, too. I curl up in my warm bed and try to let go, but the artist inside me never seems to rest.

Needed some color to brighten up my winter. .....
It's only November 6th, but it is most definitely winter in the Southern Yukon. This photo was taken while walking over a frozen pond. The wind blown willow bushes, long since stripped of their leaves, help to tell the story of a hard climate where only the most resilient thrive.
Photo taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.2 Pro hand held. Raw conversion performed in DxO PhotoLab 6.0.1 with additional post processing performed in both PhotoLab and Nik Silver Efex Pro 3.
It was a bit windy.

This is the last photograph I took before I discovered a couple of days later that this 6 month old camera had suddenly stopped working for some reason inexplicable to me.
When cold fronts come thru, my beautiful yard downy gets all puffed up to stay warm.

This guy is so photogenic. Hard not to grab my camera every time I notice him in my yard.

The day looks beautiful but it was really cold in the forest.

Week 6 in 52 Weeks for Dogs and a bitterly cold, windy, but beautiful morning for a forest walk. Taivas happily posed on a sawn fallen tree trunk.
Taken a week away from Spring, with my little Sony NEX-C3. It was very cold in the blusterly wind and imminent rain. The green neon lights from the St Kilda Kiosk confer a visual chill factor, despite the sunset gold in the far skyline is trying to sooth the situation.
St Kilda Pier has been the centre of recreational activity in St Kilda since the 1850s. Both the old shed at the pier entrance and the pavilion at the end are part of Victoria's heritage.
St Kilda Pier's History dates back to 1853 when the St Kilda Pier and Jetty Company constructed a wooden jetty to assist the early settlers in unloading timber, building materials and firewood to St Kilda. Not long after its construction the small jetty fell victim to a stormy Port Phillip Bay and was washed away. Various forms of piers were constructed at St Kilda in the 1800s as the demand for a larger pier grew with the ever increasing trade to and from the area. Since then the St Kilda Pier has grown to its present size, with the most recent concrete section constructed in the 1970s.
The historic St Kilda Pier Kiosk was built in 1904 and has undergone several renovations in its time. Tragically, the Kiosk was devastated by fire on September 11, 2003. Original drawings from 1904 were used as the basis for the kiosk's reconstruction in 2005 and now a new era has begun for the kiosk. The St Kilda Kiosk has become a symbol of St Kilda, a place of seaside fun, relaxation and romance. In many ways it offers the same simple pleasures. So take your time to look around and reflect.
Can’t change all the things I’ve done I know
I’m chasing the reason and my soul
I feel it gone
I’ve been here a thousand times I know
I thought that the point was to take it slow
Now I know what you said was true
I feel it gone
I’ve been waiting for the right time just to begin
I’m feeling like the cold, cold wind
Waiting for the right time just to begin
I’m feeling like the cold, cold wind
And I feel it all
There’s nothing left of this
They steal your innocence
There’s nothing left of this
What use is innocence
There’s nothing left of this
I’m drowning in my own disease
Now I know it now I see
I feel it all
Yeah I’m awake and I know it ‘cause I hit the ground
Yeah you’re awake and you know it cause you hit the ground
Yeah we’re awake and we know it cause we hit the ground
