Cómo se colaba la mar

entre tanto farallón,

que pretendiendo escalarlo

no lograba alcanzar

y en su brava espuma mostraba

su enojo ante tanta oposición.

Sin embargo, bien se abría

camino hacia la playa

y entre tanta roca baja,

leve obstáculo a su presión.

Con los dioses no se juega,

advierte el dios Neptuno,

elevando su tridente,

como mera observación.

A myriad of different boats are a daily sight in the harbor of Mumbai. Then one night in November 2008, 10 men came ashore in inflatable speed boats. Fishermen noticed them and questioned who they were, but police did not pursue an investigation. Mumbai was quickly under siege by the terrorists trained in Pakistan. 174 people were killed in the military-style operation that paralyzed Mumbai and gripped the world for days with non stop televised updates.

And like a war journalist, the brave me stood up and pointed his camera. The Gods have been kind and I escaped unhurt :-)

Location: Colaba Ferry to Elephanta Island

After spending a decade in the 'maximum city' of India, I decided to be a tourist undertaking a guided tour down its heritage. So hopped on a 90 min open roof bus ride. This lane, the guide informed, has been passed of as 'London' in quite a few Bollywood movies ... genius !

-¿Qué haces aquí, Agripina?

-Entré a rezar, nos dijo.

-¿Para qué? –le pregunté yo.

Y ella se alzó de hombros.

Allí no había a quien rezarle.

The iconic 'Gateway of India', Mumbai gets a burst of pigeons while the sun rays struggle to burst out of the monsoon clouds.

Its a music to my eyes :)

Taken in the area near the waterside at Colaba, Mumbai. Amazingly this settlement is just a few hundred metres from the "Taj" Hotel - probably the most prestigious hotel in India.

to those who asked;

This is a hindu temple

it was a spiritual holy time, prayer or something like this.

every person who passed by had to do this move like

paying respects.

*hindu is a popular religion in India

there are temples [معابد] everywhere.

The Church of St. John the Evangelist, better known as the Afghan Church is an Anglican Church in Mumbai, India, built by the British to commemorate the dead of the First Afghan War and the disastrous 1842 retreat from Kabul. Memorials and laid up regimental colours displayed at the rear of the nave also record casualties from the Second Anglo-Afghan War.

The church is located in Navy Nagar in the Colaba area of South Mumbai.
