It’s amazing how many small coins can be fitted in a 3” square! Some of these coins, like the Australian and New Zealand old 3 penny coins are really tiny , about the size of my little finger’s nail!
I made this one-image photo using a two-axis, computer-controlled device. The coin was held in place using a banana clip and positioned on a rotary stage, while a linear axis moved the coin 35mm to the right. Both linear and rotary movements were made simultaneously, taking a total of 6 seconds. (X35 A55 F150)

Two or three weeks ago I put a photo into the Macro Mondays group that I called 'Staying Alive' where I used this 50 pence coin in a different composition. Well after I'd finished shooting that image I was about to clear up the patio table where I'd taken that shot when I noticed this bee on the ground. And you'll know what I mean when I say that you sometimes see bees on the ground that are very sluggish and almost unresponsive. This was one such bee. The gears started to whirl in my brain and I thought - Why not! So I gathered it up on a piece of cardboard and gently nudged it onto my coin and took a couple of quick shots. I then put him gently back onto the ground and let him bee...
So before anyone reports me, no bees were harmed in the making of this image!

Nous étions fatigués et affamés quand nous avons atteint le refuge. Le soleil tapait fort, et l'air frais des 2110 mètres d'altitude était le bienvenu. Cette prairie symbolise pour nous le havre de paix idéal : la montagne, la nature, la solitude et... des ânes :)
The name Malapascua, was coined to mean bad christmas . But still some confusion what actually this means . It was dubbed by the Spaniards whose ship stranded on the island on Christmas Day 1520. There were discussions about what the name actually stands for. Mal means ’bad’ in Cebuano but while ’pasco’ means Christmas in Cebuano, ’pascua’ means easter in Spanish.
"Malapascua is a small island located in the Visayan Sea on the northern tip of Cebu Island. The island is approximately 2.5 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide. You can walk around it in two to three hours. Even if it is situated in one of the most developed provinces it appears a world apart from the mainland. Around 4000 people inhabit the small island which do not have any paved roads or cars.
A local fisherman put Malapascua on the map when he discovered thresher sharks jumping out of the water when fishing near the dive site we refer to as Monad Shoal more than 20 years ago. Since then the island has gained more and more popularity and is by many regarded as the top destination in the world to watch thresher sharks. However, diving around Malapascua is not only thresher sharks. Divers are spoilt with a wide range of macro-, muck- and wreck diving...."
