Took a tour of Caffe Vita and Theo Chocolate
today. This is the Probat roasting machine at Caffe Vita, made in Germany cca 1938-39, still roasting to perfection.
On a very cold day in March Northampton U3A made a visit to Blists HIll Victorian Village, which is part of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums.
For those Northamptonians of a 'certain age' this brought back the memory of the wonderful smell that used to drift up Abington Street from Kinghams, high class grocers, which stood on the corner of Dychurch Lane - where Café Nerro is now! As children we used to stand in front of the window watching the gentleman turning the handle of the machine, luxuriating in the warmth that used to puther out along with the smell.

this is completely fascinating to me. i'm more than just a heavy coffee drinker; i wanna learn how to roast coffee beans, grind them, and brew the coffee totally on my own. (ooh, and i want it so bad.) open a coffee shop one day? of course. let me put it on the list.
