In the third stage of coffee flowering, the buds remain at rest for almost 30 days. This latent period is induced by factors such as water stress. At the end of this stage the buds start to change color from green to white.

Coffea arabica is the species responsible for 60% of the coffee produced. It is endemic to the highlands of Ethiopia but is cultivated in many countries throughout the tropics. It is, however, considered an invasive weed in parts of Sri Lanka and Australia.

Christmas designs for a coffeeshop based out of Rwanda. The patterns are all based on their logo.

Bourbon Coffee is a Rwandan coffee shop with locations in Washington DC, New York City, and Boston.

They requested that I help develop their brand for use in interior artwork, branding, posters and other collateral.

I worked closely with them, especially with manager Bosco Munga, to develop a visual look that was bright and noticeable, while still paying tribute to Rwandan imagery and traditional design. Local basket-weaving designs contributed greatly to the final look and feel.

Coffea arabica / coffee tree. Not necessarily the most stunning photograph but I was pleased to get the flowers, immature and mature cherries in one frame.

The coffee plants that surround my house have become covered in white flowers and if you think that brewed coffee smells enticing you ought to smell this blossom. It is perfumed like sweet jasmine. Not many people know that.

Near the town of Jayuya in the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. Jayuya, high in the tropical mountain range is known for its wonderful coffee. The flowering coffee plant shows off the start of the flowering season....we will be back when the coffee beans are showing. This photo was captured while visiting tha coffee hacienda for "Cafe San Pedro" premium brand coffee.

This beautiful and elegant flower it’s the flower of a coffee tree. This flower is much known by its Latin name “Coffea Arabica” for its native place of origin, “which is believed to be Abyssinia, where it has long been known under the name of Coffa”. This flower is a great example of a homologous type of flower and also as a dicot with 5 pedals. This particularly coffee type of flower comes from the family of “Rubiaceae”.

Couldn't quite get the framing the way I wanted it, but people were behind me in line waiting for their drinks...so this was a quickie that just happened to be a little interesting.

Close-up of on one of the coffee flowers with a bee. Didn't really capture the bee, but the big yellow blob on it's side was its huge stash of pollen.

i leaned over to take his picture and he mimicked me.

The wild coffee plant in our backyard is in full bloom. It seems to happen every year within the first week of the first monsoon shower (generally in the first week of June). The fragrance in the air attract flies and other insects. Around the tree, the fallen flowers weave a snow-white carpet. This is fallen flower stuck on a twig.
