Pictures of route for "Run to the Castle"

A painting of solid snake on ms paint. I created this w/ my own 2 hands.

I must admit I've not been a fan of video on flickr and have rarely looked at any. But recently I've followed links to some impressive time-lapse videos and thought I'd give it a go. I really do think of these as “long photos” or a large series of photos shown really quickly!

This little clip is two views of the same sunset over Melbourne, Australia from Mt. Dandenong.

Although there are some obvious timing and exposure problems with this first effort I'm learning and I'm sure they will improve.

The first section of this clip was with neutral density filters and the “motor drive” locked on (Canon 400D with a wired remote). This resulted in automated exposures of 30 seconds but required filter removal and aperture changes. The second wide-angle portion was with my old Sony R-1 and I pressed the wired remote button every 30 seconds for 2 hours. One lesson I've learnt is that it must be time to get a remote with an “intervalometer” ability. Another big lesson was that knowing a bit about still images and processing means nothing in the world of video formats and codecs. There's an awful lot to learn....

Here we see an adult Eurasian Magpie(Pica pica), of the Corvidae family. Eurasian black and white Magpies are considered amongst the most intelligent animals in the world, capable in tests of recognising human faces, themselves in a mirror or hub cap, and of solving a variety of tests.

Photograph taken at an altitude of T20 metres at 12:11pm on Tuesday 23rd May 2023 in Island View beach, a fifty one hectare regional park located on Island View Road and Homathko Road with a beautiful stretch of coastline along the Eastern shore of the Saanich Peninsula and panoramic views of Haro Strait, James Island and Mount Baker over in Whatcom County, Washington State, USA.

It is roughly twenty kilometres from downtown Victoria, seventeen kilometers from the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal and twelve kilometres from Victoria airport. The District of Central Saanich is situated on the traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ people which includes W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip) and SȾÁUTW̱ (Tsawout) First Nations who all signed the Saanich Indian Territorial Declaration.

The W̱SÁNEĆ People are Salt Water People who traditionally had homes throughout the San Juan Islands, east and north coasts of the Saanich Peninsula, the Gulf Islands, northeast across Georgia Strait to Boundary Bay, the Saanich Inlet and forest lands, PKOLS (Mount Douglas), W̱QENNELEȽ (Mt. Finlayson) and SELE₭TEȽ (Goldstream and it's provincial park).

Okay, so as to not add to all the hysteria that's going around about Snow Leopard, let me go over the good news first.

Perian, the swiss knife of codec packages for Quicktime, which allows you to open most if not all of the popular video formats (like AVI), works just fine in Snow Leopard.

VLC will also open WMV files without a hitch. In fact, some Mac users have suggested outright that no one should install Flip4Mac at all.

Of course, their suggestion doesn't take in account one thing. WMV files won't work in your web browser unless you install something like Flip4Mac.

Of course, VLC should still be used for downloaded WMV files because unless you do, you will get a message like the one above, which states that the "Quicktime Player must be installed to run this application."

In other words, if you try to open WMV files after Flip4Mac is installed, you actually have to right click on the file and designate Quicktime in the "Open With..." option. For some odd reason, Quicktime X won't recognize the file right away. This is probably due to Flip4Mac installing its codecs for Quicktime 7, which is an optional install in Snow Leopard. And even if you install Quicktime 7 as I have, the Snow Leopard installer puts Quicktime 7 in the Utilities folder, which is probably why Snow Leopard can't find it. Yeah, I know, that's odd. Spaces and Expose have been moved there too.

Of course, it would be better if you avoid WMV files altogether. They just don't work that great with Macs, even in VLC and most sites still use AVI or Flash to encode their files. I have exactly one file on my Mac that is encoded with WMV and that's a Triumph the Dog skit in my Comedy folder. I don't even remember when I downloaded it.

In fact, most people encounter WMV files while searching for porn. If that's your thing, then okay, you'll probably need it, but other than that, I wouldn't recommend downloading such files on a Mac.

One of the bigger problems with WMV is that the Finder now does live previews in the thumbnails for most file types and this means that if you open a folder full of WMV encoded video, each file will auto-render every time you open the folder (that doesn't happen with other video files) and that's just annoying.

Cork (/kɔːrk/; Irish: Corcaigh, pronounced [ˈkoɾkɪɟ], from corcach, meaning "marsh") is a university city in south-west Ireland, in the province of Munster, which had a population of 125,622 in 2016.[3]

The city is situated on the River Lee which splits into two channels at the western end and divides the city centre into islands. Numa pequena localidade, com o nome Ermida do Paiva, situada a 6 km de Castro Daire, com acesso pela estrada nacional 225, existe um magnífico Mosteiro que é monumento nacional, DEC. nº 2303, DG 60 de 29 de Março 1916.

Este mosteiro, conhecido por Mosteiro da Ermida, Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição e “Igreja das Siglas” (Lacerda, 1919). É um formoso monumento da 2ª metade do séc. XII, a sua fundação é dada como tendo acontecido na Era de César de 1178, fundado por D. Roberto, monge francês, da Ordem Premonstratense de S. Agostinho, numa herdade da coroa, sendo D. Afonso III o próprio patrono. Em 1312 foi dissolvido o mosteiro. Em 1514, conversão das terras do convento em couto, foral passado por D. Manuel ao couto da Ermida, são citados vários lugares que pertenceram ao convento: S. Joaninho, Codeçais, Ester, Carvalhosa, Sobrado e Cujó.

É um monumento espantoso, a fachada está voltada para poente, segundo a orientação litúrgica clássica, mas não com o alinhamento exacto Este/Oeste. A porta principal é em arco quebrado encimado por arquivoltas que assentam em três delicadas colunas e não menos esmerados capitéis a servir-lhes de topo. Logo por cima das pedras que constituem o arco sobressai uma faixa axadrezada, qual fímbria de renda a rematar um trabalho em cujo acabamento o artista pôs todo o seu empenho e zelo. No tímpano, qual brasão de casa fidalga a identificar a linhagem do proprietário, uma cruz . No topo da empena outra cruz diferente da anterior. Esta é uma cruz florenciada, uma cruz de forma igual àquela que Mário Nunes atribui ao século XIII e diz existir no Museu Grão Vasco de Viseu, proveniente da Ermida, descrevendo-a: “uma cruz de cobre dourado com extremos em forma de flor de liz”. (Nunes, 1991). Contornando o templo pelo lado sul, temos a porta lateral, também de arco quebrado, e no tímpano, os restos de uma legenda, na qual se consegue ler o seguinte: “E.MCC2II”.

No painel lateral-sul da capela-mor, está inscrita uma legenda para eternizar, o nome e a data do homem que terá reunido à sua volta a comunidade religiosa a quem se deve, naturalmente, a existência do único monumento medieval arquitectónico. Nessa pedra pode ler-se a seguinte legenda: “ERA MC 2R VIII CVANDO OBIIT PATER RUBERT MENSE OTUBER”, que quer dizer, “Era de 1198 quando faleceu o Padre Roberto, mês de Outubro”.

o mosteiro é rodeado de um grande mistério e também muita beleza. As “Siglas” são o maior mistério do monumento e também o que mais interesse desperta, pois estão praticamente em todas as pedras do mosteiro. Ainda hoje se interrogam acerca do seu significado, tudo o que se diz são apenas especulações. Pensa-se que sejam sinais do registo histórico, da mentalidade de uma época, traduzindo a relação do homem com o universo e a vida, pensa-se que até que seja a assinatura dos pedreiros. Pensa-se que este mosteiro tem alguns erros de construção, isto segundo alguns estudiosos, mas também a que referir que os “pedreiros” da idade Média não eram tão exigentes como os Gregos do século V a. C., em matéria de perfeição e rigor de execução das plantas ou projectos.

The American crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos) is a large passerine bird species of the family Corvidae. It is a common bird found throughout much of North America. American crows measure 16-21 inches in length and are the New World counterpart to the carrion crow and the hooded crow of Eurasia

In the mornings I would stroll around in the early hours on the shoreline by the Marina, on many occasions with these little inquisitive friends by my side.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Seven metres at 14:19pm on Saturday 13th May 2023 from the paved walkway at Patricia Bay , a body of salt water that extends East from the Saanich Inlet and forms part of the North Saanich shoreline in the District of North Saanich in British Columbia. It features a beautiful park which is at the south end of the Scoter Trail. Formerly known as Union Bay, the bay was named after Princess Patricia of Connaught, daughter of the Duke of Connaught who was Governor General in 1912.

The land was originally settled by the Tseycum First Nation (Union Bay Indian Reserve No.4) , one of four Saanich villages of Southern Vancouver Island in the area and part of the Northern Straits Coast Salish language group.

In the Sencoten langauge Tseycum is spelled Wsikem and means Land of Clay. The languages spoken include Lkwungen, Malchosen, Semiahmoo, SENĆOŦEN andT’Sou-ke and in 2023 the Chief is Tanya Jimmy, who was elected in July 2019. The Tseycum people have five reserves located at:

Bare Island 9, Goldstream 13, Pender Island 8, Saturna Island 7 and Union Bay 4.
