One of the old images of "Cabling" from the year 2007, showing "Cabling" running within the product OneSpace Designer.

The image shows, how the real diameter of a cable can be visualized to see the cable thicknes related isssues (location, bend radius, heating problems.etc). The use of 3D Cabling solutions allows engineers to completely develop a design in the virtual state, rather than having to build prototypes and then route cables through the completed machine.

This lovely lady was part designer and part model. She was explaining to me how some of the outfits were ones that she had cocreated and others she was modeling for a friend. The work was beautiful and she did a great job posing and taking direction. I loved her overall look as she transitioned between various outfits. I have one more of her that will processed soon that I can upload.

For most of her shots I turned down my large parabolic feel light/umbrella to almost 1 stop above ambient and the shoot through umbrella on the right was dialed to about 2-3 stops above ambient. From here I was shooting mostly to capture her as naturally as possible. This gave me a lot of room for what to do in post. Sometimes I get asked about what technique I use for this "strong" look. Well I can tell you it's not just upping the contrast or using curves. More often than not my technique for this is a mixture of either a black and white gradient map layer set to soft light as a blend mode. From there turn down the opacity of that layer until you find the strength and appearance you find most desirable. The biggest issue with this technique is dark tones go racing to solid black. So with a layer mask I dab back in all the low key areas so they blend better and don't look too overdone. In some of these shots you can see that her hair still has some detail and highlight in the front center area. That was removed from the gradient map layer with a mask. If the gradient map layer is too harsh, I do the exact same thing only this time I'll use a black and white adjustment layer, experiment with the presets or color sliders until I find the tones I want. You can also mess with the sliders after you've switched it to soft light and see what sort of different effects you get.

Mix and match a black and white adjustment layer set to soft light with a reduced opacity and then put a gradient map layer above that. This gives you an unbelievable amount of control for zoning different tones in the image.

I didn't remember to write this model/designer's name down but I hope we get to work together again in the future, she had some beautiful looks with her outfits.

Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.[1] Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein define social media as "a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange ofuser-generated content.[2] Furthermore, social media depend on mobile and web-based technologies to create highly interactive platforms through which individuals and communities share, cocreate, discuss, and modify user-generated content. It introduces substantial and pervasive changes to communication between organizations, communities and individuals.[3]

Social media differentiates from traditional/industrial media in many aspects such as quality,[4] reach, frequency, usability, immediacy and permanence.[5] There are many effects that stem from internet usage. According to Nielsen, internet users continue to spend more time with social media sites than any other type of site. At the same time, the total time spent on social media in the U.S. across PC and mobile devices increased by 37 percent to 121 billion minutes in July 2012 compared to 88 billion minutes in July 2011.[6]

Much of the criticism of social media are about its exclusiveness as most sites do not allow the transfer of information from one to another, disparity of information available, issues with trustworthiness and reliability of information presented, concentration, ownership of media content, and the meaning of interactions created by social media. However, it is also argued that social media has positive effects such as allowing the democratization of the internet[7] while also allowing individuals to advertise themselves and form friendships.[8]

Most people associate social media with positive outcomes, yet this is not always the case. Due to the increase in social media websites, there seems to be a positive correlation between the usage of such media with cyber bullying, online sexual predators and the decrease in face-to-face interactions. Likewise, media seem to be influencing kids' lives in terms of exposing them to images of alcohol, tobacco, and sexual behaviors.[9] This issue is becoming even more prominent as kids are starting to engage with such media sites at younger ages. Instead of giving a kid a toy at the dinner table to keep them quiet, parents are now resorting to IPads and other technological devices that are more advanced. Kids are thus learning how to operate technological devices at ages where they are able to become experts as infants.

Modern social media first surfaced in the early 1990s. One of the first social media sites was created in 1994, and it was called "Geocities." The concept was for users to create their own websites, characterized by one of six "cities" that were known for certain characteristics. [10]

On Sep 13, 2018, I debuted my first "Co-Create" event at San Francisco Apple Store at Union Square. It is a hybrid form of a design talk followed by an interactive creative workshop with audience participation.

In my talk, I break down my creative process for designing iconic characters, such as the Twitter Fail Whale, the localization of Mickey Mouse for Disney Shanghai recruitment campaign, the dumpling emoji, as well as my newest character design inspired by the San Francisco sea lion; which not only allow audience to discover how culture elevates user experiences and drives business, but also provide them actionable steps to create. After the talk, audiences can get hands-on with iPad and Apple Pencil (Supply by the Apple Store or bring your own) to make colorful illustrations and captivating stories.
