Tuesday Cocktail Hour: The Port Ellen Sour #cocktailrobot -•- Everyone’s favorite green-clad Ardbeg ambassador @ardbegcam posted this cocktail the other day and it looked... beguiling? Tasty? Pineapple-y? Yup. All those things. Port Ellen is on Islay. It’s a village? Town? Port? The big malting spot is there (Port Ellen Malting). -•- 2.00 oz. Ardbeg Wee Beastie 0.75 oz. Lemon Juice 1.50 oz. pineapple juice 0.50 oz. Maple Syrup -•- Shake with ice. This is a big cocktail - almost 5 ounces. My little Nick & Noras struggled! It has all sorts of things that I like so I attempted it myself. I’m missing a few items, though. Including Montenegro because it went to all those holiday cocktails. So, that was different. Tuesday Cocktail Hour: Averna-esque Daiquiri #cocktailrobot -•- On one of the @creativedrunk “ask me anything” sessions he mentioned adding Averna to your next daiquiri. I tried that tonight. I planned on doing the Hemmingway daiquiri version but realized I didn’t have grapefruit juice. But, I do have grapefruit bitters and a little extra simple syrup. 1.25 oz. Rum (Hampden Jamaican Single Estate) 0.75 oz. Averna 0.75 oz. lime juice a whole mess of grapefruit bitters 0.50 oz. Maraschino liqueur 0.25 oz. simple syrup (should have just bumped the Maraschino up) Shake! Strain! Garnish with some lime wheel action. Eat chocolate. Tasty. Again: Shot with #lensbabysol45 lens. What a fun wonky lens. This is straight out of the camera. No monkey business. Friday Cocktail Hour: The Doubting Duck #cocktailrobot -•- Thank Dog it’s Friday. We did the Doubting Duck again, but this time with a different Sherry. Sherry-wise, the original recipe called for a Manzanilla and I would recommend that. We made this one with an Amontillado which overpowered it all (as you’re probably thinking). If you do an Amontillado, then tweak the ratios a bit. I bet that would work better. The Chartreuse got lost. -•- Cocktail spears by the lovely @stectormetals —- 1.5 oz sherry 1.0 oz Dry vermouth 0.5 oz Yellow Chartreuse 1 dash Celery bitters 1 dash Orange bitters 1 Olive (as garnish) 1 twst Lemon zest (as garnish) -•- Stir in you mixing glass with ice. Monday Cocktail Hour: The Dreadlock Holiday #cocktailrobot -•- This snazzy little number (?) is credited to @BartenderAtLarge and I spotted it on the feed of @HighProofPreacher and saved it to my ‘DRANKS’ folder in instagrams. It has rum. It has Suze. It has vermouth. What more do you need?
(Suze really does crank the color up to a very *clears throat* distinctive color, eh?) (Laurel Aitken was on the ‘radio’ as we made this. He didn’t have dreadlocks, but I suspect I get some bonus points for that) 1.5 oz. Jamaican Rum (#Hampden 8YO) 0.75 oz. Suze 0.75 oz. Bianco Vermouth (I had Dolin) 1 teaspoon Pineapple Liqueur (Oh, I need some pineapple liqueur - but I used pineapple gum syrup) Stir with ice. Strain onto rock. Sunday Cocktail Hour: The Bitter Giuseppe #cocktailrobot -•- Described as a “Cynar Manhattan” this was my third attempt at making a cocktail today. The first two went bad. First, I tried to do something with the Oxacan Paranubes Rum and it really didn’t work. Then I tried a cocktail that used Ginger Beer and it came out super sweet (and maybe the ginger beer was old). I found this on the Robert Simonson ‘Modern Classics” cocktail app and it was easy + quick + contained my favorite things. -•- 2 ounces Cynar 0.75 vermouth 2 dashes orange bitters a lemon -•- For the vermouth, the recipe called for Carpano Antica Formula. I don’t know what it is, but that stuff exhausts me. I used Casa Mariol Vermut - not the same, but arguably tastier (and maybe 400 times not as sweet?) The recipe is very detailed about expressing a lemon peel over the drink and using a peel that has a bit of meat on it so that 11-15 drops of juice go into the drink. Garnish with a lemon. Easy. Friday Cocktail Hour: White Volcano #cocktailrobot -•- Tasty cocktail. Spotted on the interwebs. That said. Proportions are odd. Is it really a 1:1 spirit to lemon juice ratio? Also, we are doing metric today! Please feel free to label me a commie socialist or whatever. 'White Volcano' 5cl Volcan Tequila 2 Slices of Chili 5cl Lemon juice 2cl Orange liquor 1cl Agave Syrup 1 Egg white Dry shake. Shake with ice. Strain. I expressed and garnished with a lemon peel. —> recipe by @cheyennetulsa @marcellsonp My Modifications! I don’t seem to have any chilis here so there was a 1/4+ oz. Ancho Reyes. Also, a dash or two of Angostura CHOCOLATE BITTERS. Why all caps? Because they are hard to find and I’m excited to have them. The egg whites did not really fluff up at all. Thursday Cocktail Hour: Cinnamon Amaretto Sour #cocktailrobot -•- Tonight’s cocktail (after a thoroughly weird dinner I made (meatballs and ramen?)) was a tweak on Jeffrey Morgenthaler’s “Best Amaretto Sour in The World”. Google the article. My twist tonight: Cinnamon Simple Syrup. Delish. (also, I didn’t have a high-proof bourbon so went with just generally ‘really good’ bourbon) (also I misread the recipe - he only uses a teaspoon of simple syrup 2:1. I used an ounce! it’s 1:1, but still! No wonder it’s tasty) 1.50 oz. Amaretto 0.75 oz. bourbon (@Woodinville ) 1.00 oz. lemon juice 1.00 oz. cinnamon simple syrup 0.50 oz. egg whites -•- Dry shake. Saturday Cocktail Hour: Alpine Whiskey Sour #cocktailrobot -•- When I was a young pup, I was lucky to do a two month tour of Europe with two pals - one pal being George who I had known since I was 6 years old. We were in the Italian alps staying with a friend of George’s and I had my first Amari. Bitter and floral and made by someone a half mile from where we were staying. In other news I bought a bottle of Braulio and it reminds me of that very first glass. -•- 1.00 oz. mystery high proof whiskey that arrived in the mail :) 0.75 oz. Braulio 0.75 oz. lemon juice 0.75 oz. honey syrup (i did the ‘triple syrup’) dashes of Angostura egg whites or aquafaba or what-have-you -•- Dry shake with out ice. Add ice. Shake. Strain. Monday Cocktail Hour: The Aviation #cocktailrobot

Oh, right. The 1930 version of the classic Aviation cocktail in the Savoy cocktail book isn’t blue - Harry Craddock didn’t specify adding the Creme de Violette.
My idea was to make that version but to still have it blue.
Ah!
That’s where the Butterfly Pea Flower that I ordered comes in.
Grabbed an empty bottle and put some gin in it (maybe 5 ounces) and then dropped in a pinch of the flowers. They will turn anything blue very quickly. I strained them off about 15 minutes later.
These flowers have almost no flavor so there’s no impact to the general flavor or texture of the drink. Just that it’s now blue.
Once you add citrus, the acid changes the blue to purple.
Pretty snazzy and super easy.

Shake with ice. Strain. The few dashes of maraschino liqueur actually do a great job of balancing the lemon juice.

Sunday Cocktail Hour: The Applejack Negroni Sour -•- Doing this Applejack Negroni Sour idea again because (1) It was tasty (2) It got rid of a bottle of Lairds and Campari that both had like an ounce left or so. -•- If you missed passed episodes (you can find them in my FANS ONLY Patreon account (JK)) I’ve been stealing and playing with the idea of making a sour and have the ‘spirit’ an actual cocktail. So, your sour recipe of 2 parts spirit + 1 part citrus + 1 part simple syrup but the spriti in this case a Negroni. Oh, and this time I did the maths for you. -•- 0.66 oz. Lairds Applejack + Straight Apple Brandy (ran out of Applejack) 0.66 oz. Carpano Antica Vermouth 0.66 oz. Campari 1 oz. Lemon Juice (didn’t have enough lemon so used a little Yuzu juice) 0.75 oz. Simple Syrup (“triple syrup” with Agave, 2:1 Simple, and Honey Syrup) 4 dashes of Fee Brothers Foam Stuff. -•- Dry shake. Then shake with ice. Express lemon peel + garnish. Delightful. 0.75 ounce pineapple gum syrup
#@Shake with ice. Shake. Shake. Strain. Felt like dropping a little bitters on top. May delete later. This may sound crazy, but I might bump up the pineapple gum syrup just a bit. Mainly because I love it. How would this be with Ardbeg instead of Mezcal?

I wish it was named something that didn’t have ‘corpse’ in it. This cocktail was spotted on Kindred Cocktails and is credited to the Rickhouse in San Francisco. 1 oz Blanco tequila (@volcantequila ) 1 oz Cocchi Americano 1 oz Pineapple syrup (Pineapple Gum Syrup) 1 oz Lemon juice 2 ds Absinthe Shake first four ingredients with ice. Strain. I used an atomizer for the absinthe. Garnish with lemon. Dee. Lish. Put this on your list!
