A pretty little Cobweb Spider with a missing leg. Photographed at Lake Waterford Park in Maryland.

Wondering

The bejewelled webs on this gate caught my eye. Then I noticed the gap in the bar. Then, I wondered if the webs might be holding the gate together.

Then, I took the photo – simply because I liked the scene.

This little spider lives in our garage. In the foreground is a cobweb; an old web she no longer uses. In the background is her current web being used to trap insects.

Happy bokeh Wednesday!

With the very misty day today i thought it would be a perfect opportunity to get some good misty shots of the Bestwood Colliery near me (see more at www.ukminingremains.co.uk/#/bestwood-colliery/4545305785) Unfortunately it wasnt quite working out like that and as it was closed I couldnt even fit the camera through the railings! So the best I could do was an improvised shot through a cobweb (as you do!). The colliery is in the background! Taken with the Sigma 10-20mm.

Dear Flickr users:

May I kindly ask you to vote for an idea which I posted in the Flickr feedback blog:

Thanks, guys! Enjoy Flickr!

Around Long Plains camp.

mmmm, it Might be time to give the barn a good cleaning! I get all kinds of crazy ideas when the weather cools off! LOL I was considering using this for my 52Frames challenge which this week is one light source. It was interesting, as I stood there thinking about taking this shot, the slight breeze from the open barn door was making this web poof slowly in and out. :) I thought the dust on the web made it look somewhat like old lace. No spider was detected. I guess the paper wasps about ten inches away took him out.

“Serving as an off-licence from the 1700’s The Cobweb Inn bottled its own beer, wine and spirits and was under the charge of the Customs. After being unloaded from the ships in Boscastle Harbour, it was tested for alcoholic strength and customs approval, before being sold to the inns and pubs of Boscastle and surrounding areas. Boscastle then boasted the number of 22 pubs.

Coal was brought along this path and literally emptied over the cliff into storage at the bottom which is now the garages the custom built wall in on the cliff face can still be seen.”

Winter 1979. Another rather "dreich" day. This cobweb seemed to capture the mood. Dale Park, near Grisedale. South Lake District

Ok, so it's a (very) tenuous link to Hallowe'en, but with the absence of a non-existant, supernatural, paranormal soul accidentally wandering into frame on a morning ghostwalk in the countryside somewhere, a spider's web is the best I'm going to get (and to be honest is more likely to send a shiver up my spine than some undead spirit caught between worlds). :-)

I've a page on facebook here - if you like my images please feel free to say hello and follow me on there too. Thank you.

Day 13 (after a break)

Another little late halloween picture.

I was trying to get a decent picture of this cobweb, but I had to settle for this in the end because all the rest were blurry.

This is good on white.

...those cobwebs... seen through a Tamron 90mm 2.8f macro lens ;-)

Finally got it, still getting used to it ...

1:1 macros on manual focus are not that easy without a tripod and some wind *g*

this was taken on ISO 800, that's why there's still some noise left...

I think it's a good start, but I will keep practising :D

This months vlog is out!

No prizes for guessing where this was taken. A lovely quite and calm morning down by the river this weekend just gone. A couple of runners and dog walkers shared the morning as Pershore slept on. The mist and fog eventually ebbed away leaving a bright and sunny day to enjoy.

Image is part of a series of images taken last weekend down by the Old & New bridges in Pershore and later on in the small woodland area next to Pershore meadows.

Hopefully a vlog will make its way to YouTube soon! if you are Pershore way, you'll likely see me me around town with the camera so do come over and say hello.
