The stark beauty of the Algarve Sandstone coastline which is sadly eroding very rapidly

Back in Clevedon for one night only. No great sunset but plenty of high tide wave action during the blue hour.

An unsual finding, for me at least, with frosted dunes on this stretch of Northumberland coast and a lovely morning with some golden light. The sun was gradually creeping over the dunes behind me but at this point hadn't reached my immediate foreground. It was very hard finding areas unaffected by paw or foot prints and many good compositions were spoilt by that but this area with the grass having drawn an arc in the sand and river beyond I did like. I have still smoothed away some paw prints to make them less obvious however. (Of course I left a few prints behind by simply getting there so can't complain!)

I've had a few busy days at work this week and I needed to somehow escape tonight to a happy place back on Rattray Head beach.... so I processed another image from my late afternoon there.

It had been my intension to grab sunset there but the weather had other ideas and by 7pm I was done in. The exposure in the constant 30mph winds and the sea spray and whipped up sand really had me exhausted. My new camera got very dirty... and I've defo learnt my lesson about turning it off and waiting 2 secs before changing lenses. Thankfully the sensor cleaning with the wet kit swabs worked amazingly well... I was soo worried... but I don't think if you just follow the simple rules you needn't worry!

While browsing through the old photos on my phone, I came across some wonderful memories from my visit to Perun Mountain at the start of last year. I strolled along the narrow paths of this lesser-known mountain, a sibling to the more famous Mosor Mountain, in search of tranquility amidst the bustling city of Split, which was clearly visible from my vantage point in the picture. It was truly a moment of discovery. I ventured deep into the cold winter night, yet my heart yearned to linger near the quaint St. George's Chapel. I promise myself to return there in the near future.

I headed to Babbacombe and a local spot popular with landscape photographers to capture the lone tree. Positioned at the top of some concrete steps that lead down to a small beach it makes for a great composition. I knew the weather was going to be cloudy so had planned to doing some long exposures, so with my 10 stop ND filter in hand I set up for this shot setting the camera to bulb mode and allowing the shutter to remain open for over 5 mins.

I was very pleased with the result and after a little editing this is the final image. I hope you like it

Thank you.

A chance encounter along the Dorset coast....

I was really glad the sail was red and thus offered a perfect opportunity for another minimalist shot.

Serendipity at work!

Down to the Mumbles for a sunrise session. Got up late and was rushing all morning! Will need to go back this week and make sure I get up when the alarm goes off!

Another shot from my windy Monday evening shoot at Rattray.

Anything with a shutter speed over 5 secs or with the telephoto lens just wasn't working for me despite me trying in the winds over 30mph...

Also If I stood down closer to the water there wasn't the constant sandblasting effect off the sand whipping up from the beach. So because I had my wellies on... just in the water was the most comfortable place to stand and find headspace to compose a shot!

A gentle hush settles over the harbor as wooden piers stretch across calm waters, leading to boats quietly waiting for their next journey. The rugged shoreline, guarded by ancient rocks, stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Swedish Coast. Wild grasses and distant cottages add a touch of warmth to the tranquil scene, where every detail invites you to pause and savor the serenity of Nordic life.

Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement. Every view, fave, and comment from this wonderful community truly inspires me to keep capturing and sharing these peaceful moments from the Swedish coast. Your appreciation makes the journey even more meaningful, and I'm grateful to share these scenes with you.

VIVID. A long exposure shot of Battery Point lighthouse in Portishead. I had to tone down the colours a little as the sunset was so vivid.

I have just got back from another lovely visit back to Weston. My shooting plans were slightly scuppered by a couple of white sky evenings, this was the one good evening I had. High tide at Knightstone causeway is a great place for long exposure photography. I quite liked the results with my 3 stopper maintaining some movement and textures. There was some nice light too.

A couple of great days seeing family and friends, going for walks, chilling in my local park which actually caught fire when I was there! Never a dull moment it seems.

My visit to the Shoalstone beach in Brixham conincided with an outgoing tide which had revealed these lovely rock formations leading down to the sea. Combining the orange glow from the dawn sky I was able to capture them at thier best.

faros da costa da morte... Galicia!

standing on the beach watching the storm coming and hoping you don't get your camera wet

Im not sure how many shots I can get away with posting from my windswept afternoon at Rattray Head but its amazing with the dynamic of the waves and changes in aspect ratio how many compositions can be developed.

It's also amazing how my processing style with seascapes has evolved... I used to always like ramping the clarity slider up... but Im not so fond of that now. The older shots still are fine and i'd not revisit them... but this more softer approach I think captures the mood better especially with the longer exposure shots. Never say never though!

Thank you for stopping by and taking a look.

I went to Collieston to shoot a sunrise over the pier... but the sun and colour was too far to the West than I'd thought it would be but I ended up being much more drawn to this long sea cave where the water comes rushing through.

I called it tense as shooting it was quite tense. You want to get close in to get the best effect... but at the same time you are wary how the sea will come flushing through the cave. Every 5 mins or so you can get a cycle of much higher waves on the incoming and outgoing tides. Its something all seascape photographers should know and be wary off. The rocks you are standing on are fairly large angular and slippy so you cant escape at pace so you need to watch you don't get too close and get swamped.

A second long exposure shot from my sunrise visit to Penarth. This time a 8 second exposure and a Lee Filters Little Stopper. Having lived in Clevedon for so long and shooting the fabulous Clevedon Pier, it seems natural to spend a bit of time taking shots of this lovely pier which sits on the opposite side of the channel!

IMPERFECT. I was not aware there would be scaffolding on the pier but as I got up early I took it anyway, luckily the other side was clear. Which of us is perfect anyway! An 8 sec exposure just before sunrise.

I walked out on one of the beach boardwalks and the sun came out briefly and highlighted the pier and the clouds to create quite a moody scene with the rainstorm approaching on the horizon. As I was on holiday I just had my camera and a 50mm lens, that was the compromise so I could take some photos and keep my wife happy!
