EPZ Nuclear and Coal Power Station. In November 2015, the coal-fired plant was permanently closed.
The Coal mine du Gouffre is the main and last colliery company of Charbonnages du Gouffre, the "Charbonnage n°10 du Gouffre". It operated from 1916 to 1969. After closure, a part of the site was converted into a zoo for some years between 1979 and 1982 before becoming abandoned.

No, not the English Newcastle, my home town, just 100km up the coast from here.
I took this shot just after dawn at Norah Head, where you’ll often see a dozen or more ships waiting offshore. Having grown up in Newcastle and worked at BHP, on the plant and at times in the coke ovens, I thought I had a reasonable grasp of the steel and coal industry. Turns out, I was pretty uninformed about the sheer scale of maritime movements here.
Apparently, Newcastle Harbour sees around 2,000 ship visits (or 4,600 ship movements) per year, with up to 23 vessel movements in a single day - a huge portion of them carrying coal.
What really blows my mind? These massive giants of the sea operate with crews of just 15-25 people. Life at sea must be an experience like no other.
Any golfers out there? Fun fact - Australia Has the World’s Longest Golf Course. Nullarbor Links spans 1,300kms/850miles, stretching from Kalgoorlie (WA) to Ceduna (SA). The 18-hole, par 72 course crosses two time zones, with players traveling along the highway to reach each hole. On average, a full round takes four days - better pack snacks! ⛳

An eastbound Chicago & North Western coal train passes through farmland west of De Kalb, Illinois, on October 9, 1994. A shiny, new combine stands idle for a moment as a farmer takes a break during harvest time. Those “lightning stripe” Dash 9s sure looked nice back-to-back.
-The Number 9 Coal Mine was opened in 1855 by the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company. It was the World’s Longest-Operating Coal Mine. The mine featured miles of tunnels and went as far as 800 feet below the surface. It produced a significant amount of anthracite coal from the Panther Valley’s Mammoth Vein in Carbon County, PA.
In 1972, the mine was officially closed. 1992, 20 years after closing for business, the Number 9 Coal Mine was opened for tours to those wanting to learn more about this industry that built Northeastern Pennsylvania. - (Source: Uncovering PA)

"Coal handling building" of an abandoned coal mine (1916-1969) - Belgium
The mine could extract 145000 tons every year. The buildings have the same architecture (brickstone and reinforced concrete) and have been built in 1934. In the 60s, the capacity of the coal mine has been reduced, in 1963, it could only extracts 83000 tons per year. It has been definitively closed on March 31, 1969.
