The blast furnaces near IJmuiden have been in the news negatively for years. Huge emissions of CO2, graphite rains and black snow. For nearby built-up areas, a public health disaster. The Netherlands fails to take effective action against this big polluter. Again and again, the company Tata Steel manages to slip through the net of environmental permits.
Zoals aangegeven werden in Eilvese meerdere BoxXpress locomotieven vastgelegd, allen met een andere livrei. Een leuke bijkomstigheid was de 193 870. De 193 870 draagt op de zijkant 'railMybox', een initiatief om Co2 uitstoot te verminderen en zo klimaatneutraal transport aan te bieden per spoor in plaats van per vrachtwagen. Een trend die steeds meer vervoerders laten terugkomen.
BoxXpress 193 870 was met een bijna volbeladen containertrein onderweg richting het zuiden toen zij door Eilvese kwam. Eilvese, 24 augustus 2022.

J. R. Simplot invested in a fleet of cryogenic reefers in the late 1980’s to move frozen commodities. These cars were cooled by liquid carbon dioxide that was slowly released inside the car, creating a cooling effect similar to the effect that occurs when operating a fire extinguisher. Because there is no way to reliably control the temperature, these cars were limited to frozen food use only, and did not replace mechanical reefers. I have read that the economics of CO2 made these cars fall from favor, and they were retired. Here a one-month-old example is in a train at Fogelsville, Pennsylvania.

I hope this marks a change in the style of photography i wish to pursue. From this point forward im going to try and incorporate nature and simplicity into my photos as much as possible (with possibly a few exceptions.)
Close up of my car's exhaust pipe. I have to say today's topic is a paranoid's delight - it's quite impressive how there's danger lurking everywhere.
Sea Forest / Land De-Forest - the Madness of Mankind.
Rain forests - that reduce tons of CO2 - destroyed by the thousands of acres each day.
Wind turbines - that reduce? CO2 - built by the thousands at great cost to the electricity consumer.

This is the way to go in order to achieve a small CO2 footprint. No malls, no traffic jams, no electicity and aircos, just a small shop for the direct environment, even with a fitting room (on the left). It may mean poverty, but at least it's poverty in a world not getting too warm globally.....
......but oh man, it's getting hot locally under that corrugated roof and the selection is so limited and where is that Mug & Bean for a coffee, and, and, and....conclusion: the world seems to be a difficult place......
