Dejad de quemar esta maravillosa Cantabria infinita con no se sabe qué oscuros propósitos... parad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Al fin ha llovido un poco y los incendios están empezando a controlarse... y da muchas ganas de llorar...
Besosssss...
LTB60 (South St. Paul-Altoona) crosses the Eau Claire River into Altoona. Before the double track was removed in the early 90’s, this was a gauntlet bridge controlled by the tower operator in Eau Claire.
A bonus shot for my followers today.
This was taken on the same whirl wind drive across the mid west as the photo posted earlier today.
I am driving west along the great US30 in Nebraska somewhere near Shelton along the Union Pacific main line, and shooting the ducks in a pond. This westbound with a Chicago Northwestern EMD leader demonstrates what this route is all about. It appears like a high speed raceway, and indeed it is!
Another "Clock is ticking" as we witness this Chicago and North Western Railway double stack train. I'm not sure if it's using rights on the Union Pacific high iron across Nebraska or if UP is using the power on this train. Either way, this would become unessassry in 18 months as the CNW rolls under the umbrella of Uncle Pete changing the mid western railroad landscape once again.
Former Chicago, and North Western SD50 7009 was sold into the NRE lease fleet shortly after the merger with the Union Pacific. After languishing in the line of stored locomotives at Silvis, IL, the Illinois Railway Museum purchased it to become the first EMD SD50 saved by a museum.
IRMX 7009 was setout by NRE on Friday afternoon, ready to be picked up by the IAIS for the trip to Chicago.

UP West Line #39 rounds the bend at Noble Street as the afternoon rush begins the Friday after Thanksgiving.
My final shot of K603-17's trip across NW Ohio this last Sunday was my favorite as the head end pounds the Toledo Sub diamond at Deshler, Ohio. 8/18/19
Post merger before the second main track was relaid. Fast forward 20 years and that second main is not needed anymore based on recent train counts.

Sunrise at the end of Walker siding and waiting for a westbound. Double track on this part of the BN would be a few years away.

We go back to early 1982 on a stormy night with rain coming down we got permission from the CNW to take night time photo's at CNW Wood Street yard with the Hottest train on the road ..Long time friend Dennis Hertrich and i captured classic F-units with new GP-50's waiting to leave at 10:30
UP YBE51's power, a pair of ex-MoPac GP15s, tie back onto their train before starting back towards Belvidere. The train is underneath the wooden bridge on 1st Street which, along with the 2nd Street bridge I am standing on, date back to the 19th Century and are currently slated for demolition.
West bound train 99 comes into Belvedere yard near sunset .The conductor is walking ahead to throw the switches
Its 1980 with train 598 coming down from Janesville to pick up cars at Harvard yard .today most of all this yard is long gone and so are the F-units
Back in the early 90's The best spot for catching eastbounds in the morning was the Harley Road wooden bridge just west of La Fox on the Geneva Subdivision.
It's called "BIG" Wyoming for a reason.
8637 east is putting on a good show climbing Walker Hill.
CNW's new C44-9's looked impressive in that new style paint and in the way they handled a train.

Eastward load. At least they were running the CNW AC's in the lead this day.
When distributed power was in its infancy, thankfully.

Former CNW SD50 7009 sits in the "save" line at NRE's Silvis facility. Most of the engines that appear to be "saved" have been shuffled around and occupy the two southern most tracks, along the long driveway from the east end.

Stored in the weeds. They must still had some life left. Too good to scrap for now. Others were not so fortunate on this visit.

Close to sunset and closer to merging with Union Pacific.
An empty train nearing a tie up at Bill.

CNW 6834 leads a manifest into the Gateway area on the Alton & Southern at HN Cabin. That's Dad capturing the moment on Betamax on the left and his bitchin' Camaro on the right.
CNW SD18 has some auto racks in tow as they roll through the Daytons Bluff area of Minneapolis/St Paul in October 1997
A pair of Chicago North Western "Torpedo Boat" GP-9R's, #4532 in Zito Yellow and #4533 in the traditional scheme highball Eastbound near Lusk, WY with a 7 car "Cowboy Local" in May of 1989.
They are on the stretch of track between Shawnee and Van Tassell that was upgraded to accommodate the Powder River coal trains.
Former CNW high hood GP9 spreads storage cars on the branch to Hartwell after making the rare trip to Quality Holdings. This unit was out of service for a few years but has been back in regular service for a few months or almost a year now. Destiny Ln, Bowersville, Ga
Ore loads roll through Spooner with as yet unreprinted ex N&W's 6724 and 6708 leading 6723 in April 1974. The CNW sure got there moneys worth out of the C628's. No photographer to credit, Chuck Schwesinger collection.
Chicago & North Western ESISE is seen at Escanaba, MI on August 29, 1992. ESISE was operating as an extra Escanaba-Ishpeming freight. A nearly-new C41-8 and what looks to be a 7000 series SD50 provide the power. Until a few years prior to this shot, this stretch of the CNW would've been ruled by the railroad's fleet of former N&W Alco C628s. These big GEs marked the first time in over a decade that the CNW experimented with GE power, after bad experiences with their U30Cs in the 1970s.
This is a scanned slide from my collection, originally taken by J.M. Seidl.
We go back to 1975 and were at Mc Cook IL next to the GM La Grange building plant .Its the end of the line for the CNW covered wagons .There being scraped at Pielot Brother's to build new engines along with many old box cars back in 1975
Doing what it was acquired for, one of 77 CNW Dash 8-40C's leads a coal train from the Powder River Basin on the Union Pacific at Ruthton, NE. Built in 1989, it was conveyed to UP and became UP 9033 which retired it in 2008. Along with it's sisters, it worked in lease service as CREX 9033 for a couple of years before the entire fleet was sold to Canadian National in 2010. CNW 8511 ended up as CN 2010 and as of November 2022 is one of only a few still running. I find it amazing that this 77-unit fleet remained intact for 30 years before CN began to retire them with no premature retirements due to wrecks.

Chicago & North Western SD40-2 #6847 and GP7R #4160 are in charge of the caboose train during IRM's Annual Diesel Days in July of 2009. IRM's restored CNW commuter train can be seen behind the caboose hop.
