Unlike a hedgehog, Lesser Tenrecs use all their paws and claws to clamber and clutch at what they want or need. Whilst my little sweetheart, Boo here, didnt actually 'need' the strawberry, she very capably held it for me, long enough to take the shot. Then, like the quilled sport she is, she threw it at me! Boo has the sweetest face!

Descending from Ben MacDui we came acros this nest full of 8 eggs right by the 'path' we were following. They could be Snow Bunting or Red Grouse, but I could be wrong. A quick pic., leave them alone and move on.

Ben Macdui is the UK's 2nd highest peak (second only to Ben Nevis) and stands at 1309m (4294ft). After descending from this Munro we make a climb to the 2nd Munro of the day, Carn a' Mhaim (pronounced Carn-ah-Vame) at 1037m (3402ft).

Free-dumb and independence. Free the kilt! Revelootion! Magi, the Bard of Balquidder. He really does dress like this EVERY day.

Montagu's Harrier (Circus pygargus)

Behaviour & Migration:

This is a migratory species, wintering in sub-Saharan Africa and southern Asia. It leaves its breeding grounds in August and September, beginning their return in March and April. Birds tend to migrate on broad fronts, but there are concentrations in Gibraltar and along the Rift Valley. Nevertheless it will readily migrate over expanses of water. Birds tend to hunt alone, although do gather at high prey concentrations and will roost in groups of often over 50, sometimes communally with C. macrourus and C. aeruginosus.

Habitat:

It is a bird of open country, usually in lowlands but occurring up to 1,500 m in central Asia, and on its African wintering grounds up to 4,000 m.

Diet:

Small birds and mammals form the majority of its diet; voles are a particularly dominant food source locally in abundant areas. Dragonflies are sought as a good source of protein during the Autumn migration.

Breeding site:

It nests in tall vegetation on the ground. Management information Tall vegetation must be left during the breeding season, with high rates of chick mortality when this is harvested on agricultural land; key management practices include moving nestlings to safe places during harvesting, and leaving areas unharvested around the vicinity of nests.

After missing my shot at downtown Savanna, I pursued this BNSF H NSINTW to the army depot west of town, where I caught it by the skin of my teeth. Didn't come out fantastic, but better than nothing!

Wow. Made me feel like I have thrown out a lot that would have fit with the theme. Somewhere in a box is my slide rule from college, but my dad had a grand old wooden one, long lost in the family. However, I remembered something that I still use and decided it fit the theme. I purchased this manual Boston Champion pencil sharpener when I was in high school. It has traveled with me since, to college, med school, Cuba, San Diego, Virginia, Chicago, Maryland, and finally here in Pasadena. It works fine -- you remember, insert the pencil and let the clutch grip it and then just turn the crank. The sound and feel told you when the pencil was nice and sharp. Anyway, some memories while I did the photography and polished the image -- it seemed fitting to make it black and white, too. Hope you enjoy -- HMM!

I’m very happy I had all the pieces for him

Another from Busy Bees. I just found the way the statue was clutching the rose, to be very emotive.
