Alternator and Starter Specialist. Batteries Charged.

A single railway arch auto electrician business on the corner of Carr St. and Repton St. in Limehouse, East London.

And some fine East London fashion.

Fine selection of wheels on view..

- silver 1984 Nissan Sunny (?) - lasted ~16 yrs

- blue 1983 Vauxhaul Caviler - lasted ~14 yrs

- red 1983 Rover 2600 - lasted ~12 yrs

- green 1983 Rover 3500 - lasted ~10 yrs

- blue 1985 Austin Montego - lasted ~10 yrs.

Seems the money was not on domestic cars..

The line above was one of east bound lines out of Fenchurch Street, Station. Not much seems to have changed here.. there is a fence around the biz but street view barely bothered to drive past.

A random photo from East London.

Looking east along Salmon Lane, street on the left is Camdenhurst Street. The railway is the line North East out of Limehouse Station. Tower block is Anglia House. Little seems to have changed here...

The Limehouse Curve bridge can be seen just below and beyond the railway bridge in the foreground.

Guess this was a private shop as there was no name.. seems like there were lots of motors inside.. With that Jaguar sitting there under the railway arches it has the feel it was being readied for its next "job".. but probably not really the choice of car for a job in the 90s..?

Apparently that motor is still on the road.. per .gov.uk:

it is currently taxed Jan/2019. Registered in 1968 with 3442cc of power under the missing bonnet. Blue VMD531G. Looks like a red 1960s Triumph Herald convertible behind..

Looking further seems the Jag is now part of a huge motor collection in Herts and probably looking slightly more complete than above:

www.studio434.co.uk/my-product/jaguar-340-mk-ii-1968/

Its a Jaguar 340 Mk II.

The brackets above hold the platform for Limehouse station, East London.

Seems little has changed at this location:

...looks like same doors 29 years later, just closed doors.

The row of lock ups under Limehouse railway station in East London.

I was tempted to crop out the Dacia just to leave the old motor and the arches.. maybe later in BW..

Then I just had to run the old Morris on the service.gov.. and then the Dacia which I eventually found after various combos of the number.. Seems the old Morris was in it for the long run

- ELC701J 1970 Morris Oxford brown 1622cc lasted ~24 yrs

- F56NAR 1989 Dacia Pickup red 1397 cc lasted ~5 yrs

Apparently the Yorkshire Road Arches 352-370; Light Industrial & Storage Units are managed by Network Rail.. a street view sign says..

Another random photo.. took me a while to work out where this was..

Part of the disused Limehouse curve elevated railway brideway. This part crossed Regent's Canal just up from Limehouse Basin. This view has somewhat changed in recent times:

goo.gl/maps/WX9xrawwpZM2

And an above view taken a few years before mine:

www.disused-stations.org.uk/m/millwall_junction/index77.s...

It can also be seen in my other photo here with context to the block of flats:

The wikymachine says:

There was also a rail link on a curved viaduct to the east of the station known as the Limehouse Curve. This had opened on 5 April 1880 and was generally used for goods trains heading towards London's docks. There was a short-lived passenger train service between Blackwall and Palace Gates (via Stratford, Tottenham South and Seven Sisters) which operated from 1 September 1880 until 1 March 1881. Some special excursion trains also used the curve about this time running from Blackwall to Southend and Southminster on summer Sundays in 1890 and 1891. The Limehouse Curve was last used on 5 November 1962, and on 10 May 1963 it was officially abandoned.

Some parts of the curve are listed.. this part was apparently demolished in recent years. Looks like there is a want to establish the remains as a "Highline" park...
