Cloudy night stars. I should rotate this.

I was turning around in a parking lot and then I noticed this sunset. When I got out of the post office 10 minutes later, all the color was gone and the sky was just gray. Some of those tree branches look broken..

I had to test the new camera body. It works. I had to crop the photo just a bit because there is a filter on the lens and it vignettes just a bit in the corners when the lens is used at 16 mm. I keep the filter on to protect the lens. I can live with compensating every so often.

This is shot from my terrace in Astoria. The view is toward Manhattan. You can see the Manhattan skyline in the center of the photo. The foreground is Astoria.

The lens is a Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 16-80 mm zoom.

Cloudy Shor Kul, Eastern Pamirs, Tajikistan

The Pamirs are by far the most beautiful place I've been to, leaving the Spiti Valley at a distant second place. The new ranking for my most beautiful places is now :

1°) The Pamirs in Tajikistan

2°) The Spiti Valley in India

3°) Sinai in Egypt

Cloudy is hit-n-miss this time of year. If we're lucky we get morning overcast that burns off by noon and highs below 85F. If we're not lucky then it's bright blue skies and temps reaching 100+F.
