Wonderful landscape view with perfect weather during our voyage with Hurtigruten MS Polarlys in October 2018. When this picture was taken we passed the magical polar circle northwards a few hours ago. So amazing!

I have another star in my sky, I lost my dearest mother-in-law the first of January. She was a remarkable person, an incredible woman, mother, grandmother and grand grandmother. She will always be in my heart.

The city of Oxnard is home to over 20 miles (32 km) of scenic, relatively uncrowded coastline. The beaches in Oxnard are large and the sand is exceptionally soft. The sand dunes in Oxnard, which were once much more extensive, have been used to recreate Middle-Eastern desert dunes in many movies, the first being The Sheik with Rudolph Valentino. There are very few rocks or driftwood piles at most beaches, but Oxnard is known to have dangerous rip-currents at certain beaches. Oxnard is home to world-class surf at most of its beaches.
Oxnard's Beaches extend for 5 miles along the city's oceanfront, from Mandalay Beach in the north to Silver Strand Beach in the south. The continuous stretch of sand is only interrupted by the mouth of Channel Islands Harbor. The beaches are known for their sunshine, mild surf, cleanliness and easy access.

If I can put one touch of rosy sunset into the life of any man or woman, I shall feel that I have worked with God. Gilbert K. Chesterton.

Last night we arrived at the West Fjords and chose a lovely spot by a bay with mountains in our back to spend the night there with our mobile home, since the next available camping site was still far away. We had only just settled there when the winds started getting stronger and stronger and the clouds becoming lenticular first and later the most wicked cloud formations I have ever seen, fleeting by at incredible speed. The bay itself saw whirlwinds rushing through at increasing numbers and speed with the water looking like being at boiling point. The sunset was wild and looked like this. But afterwards the storm got that bad that we were sure our mobile home would be toppled over if we stayed there despite being in a very secluded spot. But driving elsewhere was just as dangerous with all roads here being very exposed. Anyway, we decided to move and after intense minutes of driving with our teeths and the pistons of the engine grinding we found another secluded spot off the main storm front in a smaller, lateral arm of the fjord and decided to stay there. Needless to say that the night brought little sleep but we made it through ... It is still very stormy right now but not like last night. So there is hope for more road adventure.
We however legged it. Well, when I say legged it, we hobbled as fast as we could. No need as this flew straight over without a drop of rain falling..Stay safe in the icy weather everyone.....

Thou imagest my life. Thy darksome stillness,
Thy dazzling waves, thy loud and hollow gulfs,
Thy searchless fountain, and invisible course
Have each their type in me: and the wide sky,
And measureless ocean may declare as soon
What oozy cavern or what wandering cloud
Contains thy waters, as the universe
Tell where these living thoughts reside, when stretched
Upon thy flowers my bloodless limbs shall waste
I' the passing wind!"
From The Spirit of Solitude by Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822)

This was the rather ominous looking sky during sunset a few nights back! Although it looked dramatic, nothing came of it all. Just a nice show for five minutes.
Happy Nice Wonderful Clouds Tuesday!
Iridescent clouds, known as "fire rainbows" or "rainbow clouds," occur when sunlight diffracts off water droplets in the atmosphere. And the recipe for these heavenly sights is actually pretty simple.
What happens is that the cumulus cloud, boiling upwards, pushes the air layers above it higher and higher. As the air gets pushed upwards, it expands and cools. And sometimes moisture in that air suddenly condenses into tiny droplets to form a cap cloud.
This "cap"—which scientists call a "pileus"—is the source of the brilliant spectacle.
The droplets in the cap cloud scatter sunlight to form the gorgeous colors.
