Celle qui sait.
Toujours là,
3 décennies et des poussières plus tard.
L'amitié ne se raconte pas, elle se vit.

Still there,
3 decades and dust later.
Friendship is not told, it is lived.
It rained all day, but was sunny most of the day too. I think that's one of my favorite types of weather. I think this pictures sums it up pretty well.
The one time I've been concerned with a Union Pacific train going too fast....
Almost moving faster than the clouds (which pissed me off all morning), the vegetable oil foursome does track speed through the twists and turns at Irish Farms; with the empty Robertson's Rock train in tow. With cleanish power (there's light graffiti on the leader for when it runs loaded same style as the unit seen here) this train has become a rather nice catch, granted you get one shot at this then it's gone for a couple of hours; with the aforementioned graffiti leading....
matea sporting the new Ruffwear "cloud chaser" coat.
initial review: either it was colder out today than any other hike this winter (and last winter) or this coat doesn't battle the cold as well as her orange k9topcoat sport vest. she was shivering a lot more today than usual, although that didn't slow her down one bit ... and we're dealing with a -24 C windchill.
also: i'll have to do one minor adjustment on the garment ... it's too baggy around the belly and back end, which allows for a build up of ice balls which would irritate most dogs. matea's somewhat of a trooper. pleating in a little of the excess lycra in the belly area will fix this nicely though.
i was SO ready to give Ruffwear a full 10/10on this coat ... was very excited about it ... but given the high price of it and the fact that i'll have to do some adjusting, plus the chill factor, i'm giving it a 9/10. still, it's one of the top coats i've seen out there, and i still have a small one on order for morley. great allowance for motion, no snow gets into the coat (like most other winter coats), and NO one can beat Ruffwear's quality of material and craftsmanship. just wish it was a little warmer and the burrs didn't stick so well to the lycra chest and underbelly panels. but it's definitely A+ ... and i've gone through a lot of coats with this wild girl.
October 23, 2011.
I wistfully thought about how much I missed being under these skies. This is for me.
People frequently use the phrase, 'under the same sky'. Maybe we can be considered as all under the same sky. That vast, endless stretch of blue that seems to go on and on, even when you drive for hours trying to get to the end of it. But the sky in different countries, seemingly in almost entirely different worlds, is not the same. The shade of blue is different. The shapes of the continuously morphing clouds have changed. The colours of the clouds have evolved. The temperament of the sky is dissimilar as well - here, a blue sky is more common, whereas back there, white skies are almost always the ones in control. The feeling of timelessness a sky brings; is like opening up a childhood storybook you forgot you read, and rediscovering the magic in it. Yet the depressing thing about skies is that even if two people are watching the sky at the same time, and thinking about the same things, it doesn't mean anything; you could be a million miles away from them, although you're under the same sky.

“Aren't the clouds beautiful? They look like big balls of cotton... I could just lie here all day, and watch them drift by... If you use your imagination, you can see lots of things in the cloud formations..."
Charles M. Schulz
When I see clouds like this I jump in my truck and head to a place where they add to the beauty. The clouds this spring have been the most spectacular that I have seen and with over 100 lakes within seven miles of where we live. So you can call me a cloud chaser because I have many photos to be taken. This is Rush lake North of Boulder Junction in Northern Wisconsin.
