While battling the midges (my first experience with the little bastards) trying to compose some images of the Old Bridge, I turned around to see the summit of Glamaig shrouded in cloud.

The Scots have such great names and categories for their hills and mountains. Glamaig is a Corbett

According to Wiki, Corbetts are defined as Scottish mountains between 2,500–3,000 feet (762.0–914.4 m) in height with a prominence of at least 500 feet (152.4 m

Deflated at having plans scuttled to see our first iconic Skye location, we headed back towards Portree. On the way, Sligachan provided an opportunity for some photography of an old stone bridge, the river and the Glen area. Others must have been doing the same as parking was limited but I managed to squeeze in along the road.

Just over the ridge here, from the sea loch, Loch na Cuilce, is the freshwater Loch Coruisk… translated that means “Cauldron of Water”. A fitting name indeed. It’s fairly inaccessible by foot, do-able for the experienced walker/climber if you fancy a rather questionable section called “the bad step” although that’s not recommended in the wet… which is most of the time in Scotland! 😀 So, the only real way to get there is by boat, which Stu and I did. It was such a quiet, serine place which contrasted with the harsh rock of the Black Cuillin mountains. They have their own micro-climate which I always love. Plenty scope for fast changing conditions which is ideal. It’s also one of those awesome locations with a mix of wildlife to add to the experience. Dolphins, Eagles, and more.

This pic spent two days on the home-page of spaceweather.com and also appeared on the BBC Sky at Night programme on June 14th, 2015 at 8:19pm and again on June 17th at 12:15am.

The best display of noctilucent clouds that we have had so far this season. Taken at 01:05 BST.

We found a school of dolphins playing in the sea (Loch Scavaig) with the Cuillin as a backdrop.

What a beautiful island. We were lucky enough to stay in this white cottage overlooking Loch Eishort.

I think this is a kind of cloud inversion. Anybody know?

Its just as well there are some of these on Skye - mobiles dont work everywhere, including here - near Staffin in the North

Another view, another angle. The Old Man of Storr offers such a variety of compositions and as i've stated before, its a must visit location if your heading to the Isle of Skye.

Talister Bay Isle Of Skye Scotland .

A vertical shot of this delightful little bay , I like the lay out of the foreground rocks silvery sea with the cliffs and rocks as a back drop plus that outstanding sky .

Not the kind of image i would shoot for a mono conversion as i think the colour is one of the most important points of a photograph like this . People often question what is the best landscape image colour or black and white . I have to say i like them both for very different reasons and i am all ways conscious of what the final image will look like when i am considering a composition . My thought,s are if you shoot them both and enjoy both why restrict your your self to one genre . Besides that shooting both gives so many more options with the time of day and the light situation . It means in the dark gloomy winter days i can still carry on with mono or LE work , then in the summer when all the colourful sky,s and cliff tops come alive i can fill my boots with full on colour , its a win win situation . Would be interested to know some of your thoughts on this subject . My Web Site www.raymondbradshawphotography.co.uk/

500 miles in about 19 hours. What was I thinking!

I left home with the missus just about 0100hrs today and drove to Skye. Got a bit of sleep once I hit Elgol and managed to drag myself out of the car to get this. I had been wanting to come back and shoot this rock again when the tide was higher than before, unfortunately the weather was a bit more overcast than last time, and I missed the coloured cloud being hot pink (1980's style!) by about 5 seconds.

Drove around for the rest of the day, but the weather didn't play ball so I got 2 hours kip at the Slighachan (spelling?!) hotel car park before driving home again. Madness.

Photo - 30 seconds at f22, ISO 50, 0.9 hard grad (or it might have been a 0.6, I had just woken up...).

I have decided I am still not happy with this - I'm QUITE happy, but I know I can get a better shot there, just need to go back I guess :o)

The Old Man of Storr is perhaps the Isle of Skye's most known landmark, one that has been photographed to death up close and from afar. During my previous trip to Skye, I found a new location to shoot the Old Man; during my last trip on Skye this last April for my Workshop I revisited that same location after two years, something I always find interesting.

Last beams of sunlight making a strong line of shadow to the side of the mountain.
