I used 4 different psd. filles that I had put together before and used the B&W adjustment layers in Photoshop.
I remember seeing this photo when I was a child and being fascinated by it. I have no idea who took the picture, or the authenticity of it, but my Uncle Bud, who worked in a developing lab while stationed in England during WWII, had a copy of it and always carried it with him in his billfold. I recently asked his daughter about it and she allowed me to scan it. The handwritten note on the back indicates that it was taken in 1943. ~dedicated to all our veterans

This is a basic photo of a fall sunrise looking out my front door. All I did to this photo was play a little with the RAW CAMERA image settings to make the colors come out a little richer and cropped it.
It might look silly that I left the silhouette of the tress and house in the foreground but honestly, its what really kept drawing my attention to the photo. I crisp sharp black in the foreground of the amazing red painted cloudy sky.
Why did I call this photo "Nature Daubing"? Well, the unique shapes of the string of clouds and the sharp angle of the early rising sun made the clouds look like a photoshop DAUBING filter was applied. Trust me, there is no PS filter applied to this photo... just post production photo adjustments were used.

Confirmed as "mammatus" clouds by the National Weather Service (San Diego). I don't recall having seen these beautiful clouds 'live'. To see them here seems unusual, but they were a welcome sight! If they were moving, it was imperceptible.
You can see the 'break' in the 'front', which I judged at 6 miles, and west towards the ocean. I don't know how far inland, but I suspect it went at least to the mountains 20 miles east.
The following day was overcast then clear, and today (May 12) is a beautiful sunny day with billowy clouds on the horizon, as cooler weather is the norm in California. Wonderful to have the return of great air quality.
