Half this image already existed in the clouds, all it required was a little cropping, mirroring and increased contrast to complete it.

This photo is for my best friend who pass away just over one year ago. When he passed away the pain was to much to bear.Even though we know he's in a better place. My children loved this man like he was there dad.

When we see this star in the night sky we say it's david looking down on us.I so hope this is true.

LOVE YOU MATE.......martin

You be the anchor that keeps my feet on the ground. I’ll be the wings that keep your heart in the clouds

From the plane coming back from Florida :)

liked the semi circular pattern

First a beautiful blue sky. Then these nice white puffy clouds followed by dark storm clouds and rain. All within a couple of hours.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - Early on Monday morning the northern horizon glowed green. This was caused by a geomagnetic storm from a recurring coronal hole on the sun. A coronal hole is an opening in the outer atmosphere of the sun that allows the high-speed solar wind to escape, which triggers the aurora when it impacts Earth’s magnetic field. Since the sun rotates on it’s axis every 27 days, this can be predicted in advance. I saw the aurora from this coronal hole in September, but last month it was too cloudy. I was determined to see it again this weekend even if it meant staying up all night dodging clouds (aurora hunting is an addiction). The infrared satellite showed a gap in the clouds moving in at 2AM, so I made some coffee and found a dark spot on the Wyoming/Montana state line to watch and wait. It wasn’t the best display I've seen, but I’ll take what I can get during solar minimum.

The Kalalau overlook can offer tremendous views or a vertigo inducing cloudy wonderland. On this day we had both. As the clouds lifted to reveal the valley I used my 10stop filter to render the scene with the movement of the clouds. The clouds...being formed in front of our eyes.

Rough clouds entering the sky

picture is grainy because I was zoomed in as far as it could go

These were taken at midday today and they are the best "Mammatocumulus or Mammatus Clouds" i have seen for some years over Empingham in Rutland.

Scrolling through my archives, Im quite surprised by how many planes, birds and other winged things I have for the new group ! HWW folks ! www.flickr.com/groups/wing_wednesday/

It feels like we're getting teased here in Riga. Sun shows up for a little while in the morning, giving us hope that today might be the day to spend more time outside. However it turns out not to be true. I'm so looking forward to March and spring!

We were driving and the vast open fields and the endless sky caught me.

I'm pretty sure that the mountains are either the Rockies or Sierra Nevadas. The plane's window was dirty and there was lots of haze, and I'm glad to have been able to do some cleanup.
