Built as a residential dwelling in 1480, Tu Hwnt i’r Bont (Beyond the Bridge) is now a charming traditional Welsh Tea Room. Unfortunately the river flooded earlier in the season, washing away the bank, but it's still a beautiful little scene (and the tea is highly recommended!).

…… And not any old cream - Cornish Clotted cream! Not for me I hasten to add, Jill picked them for her tea. I’m actually on sips of water only & feeing very rotten!! It was all I could do to take my #161 shot of the day - every bone aches so commenting will probably non existent. Taken on my Phone in Apple RAW & minimal editing in Lightroom. Alan:-)

Harney Tea sells lots of delicious hot teas, but also some iced tea for a hot summer day. I also had the two English scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Delicious!

Today's celebrations were because it is Huw's Birthday. We were forced indoors to eat because of the high winds , but what was really good about it is that we were joined by our son's family - here is one of the scones he'd made at home this morning delivered fresh to us.
Of course we weren't expecting this so had booked ourselves a Jubilee Afternoon Tea for two delivered to our home..............
Clotted cream, strawberry jam and delicious scones with proper English tea — a perfect summer's afternoon treat. Worth breaking out the antique table linen, which belonged to my great grandparents.
It's almost June and the start of summer — the sun's shining and a perfect day for scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam, with a few fresh summer strawberries to accompany them — and proper tea, of course!
Ahh, those late summer days — perfect for a traditional cream tea. Bring out the antique linen and blue and white china; add some freshly baked scones, home made strawberry jam and lashings of rich, indulgent clotted cream — delicious. Now, if you'll all excuse me, I have some serious eating to get on with!
Homemade scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam. For a change, reversed the cream-jam order on the scone — they taste exactly the same whichever way round you put them!
Not wanting to offend anyone out in this part of the world, I had to spread the cream and jam onto my scones the complete opposite way to how I normally do it. But in case you didn't know – it's the jam, then cream, in Cornwall! Doing it the other way is how you would do it in Devon.

Here I was thinking no more Cornish Clotted Cream until I visited Whole Foods Market yesterday and found English Clotted Cream. Almost as good as Cornish Clotted Cream.

Every year the holiday makers to the West Country find themselves wondering whether to put jam or cream on their fruit scones first.
Devon and Cornwall each do it differently and are fiercely defensive over which way they should be eaten.
Her Majesty the Queen apparently prefers only one method when she enjoys her Cream Tea.
Week 23 Three 2021
I've been wanting to shoot a top-down photo, with wheat and the sickle, for a while — today seemed like the perfect day. The wheat harvest is pretty much over here and the fields are being ploughed ready for replanting. I thought the vintage 1963 Ladybird book 'The Farmer' complemented the wheat, sickle, scones and jam nicely.
At Lovecrumbs Bakery in Edinburgh. Delicious. The bakery was a large, open and airy place, and we sat at a massive round table by the front so the morning light falling across my scones was too pretty to overlook.
Photographed a wedding reception this afternoon (they'd got married in Scotland last month and had a party for all their friends this afternoon) and it was bloody lovely. Proper afternoon tea, bunting, loads of kids, magician, cool DJ, lovely people - great afternoon.
This is the cream tea that my friend Lois made - lovely home made jam, home made scones, cake stand, lovely cup and saucer, clotted cream... does it get much better than that?!

Eat What You Want Day; being in the middle of a new kitchen, with stuff all over the house and in the garage, no sink, cooker or fridge I bought this cake from "sweet Little Things Cafe" and she added the clotted cream, I shall now sit down and eat it, well what else can a girl do when things get tough?

An excellent high tea blowout at the Rectory Farm Tearoom in Morwenstow in the far north of Cornwall.
Norio discovered that he loves clotted cream. Naomi used to buy it on occasion in California but it's harder to find in Hokkaido (despite being a dairy-heavy prefecture). But, she found some this week and out of curiosity, I gave a little bit (a few grams) to Norio, who immediately decided he loved it. He's licking his lips here after a few grams for today's ration.
Cream tea. This is a Cornish way of doing it; jam then cream. In Devon it's the other way around.
Given that this cream is from Cornwall and I have Cornish heritage, it's jam then cream.
In America and Canada it's hard to get clotted cream apparently. You can make your own in a slow cooker. Just dump a pint of pasteurized heavy cream into the pot for about 8 hours on warm. Remove the crock gently ... there are now two layers of cream and rough handling could recombine them. Then cool in the fridge for about 6 hours to thicken. then scoop off the clotted cream on top and store for up to 5 days in the fridge. The runny cream at the bottom can be used how you wish. On cornflakes is always fun 😁
