There are over 20 different species of yellow-eyed grass in our area, and while they may be difficult to identify at the species level, all have a conelike structure from which the bright yellow flowers with 3 petals emerge, so it is not difficult to tell that it is a yellow-eyed grass wildflower. The large petals on this one make me think it might be Xyris smalliana.
