We at The Bicycle Escape have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our friends and customers this year. The amazing clock shown was a gift made by an artist in Bogota, Columbia and is constructed of recycled metal. I could not believe it when this was delivered to the shop. Pile on some delicious homemade pupusas, gourmet deserts, fresh fruit, and some very good craft beer and you've got yourself a truly touched collection of bicycleman. Thanks so much and have a happy and safe holiday.
To me, CMU is like jail. When I was in, I wanted out. Now that I'm out, I want back in. Anyhow, here's the nice clock.
An inside look at the clock tower in Bangor, PA. The antique four-faced clock was manufactured by the E. Howard Clock Co. of Boston, Massachusetts, and was installed in the borough hall in 1907. In addition to being Bangor’s timepiece, the clock chimed a coded ring to alert the borough fire department as to the location of the fire. They also used the tower to hang the fire hoses after a fire to dry.
After a period of neglect when the chimes fell silent, the Slate Belt Heritage Center, under the guidance and care of Jay Albert, brought the historic clock back to life again in early 2000. The help of a generous personal donation helped Jay to single-handedly restore the faces. The clock mechanism was restored by David Morgan, former president of the Worldwide Clock Towers Association.
Check out the Slate Belt Heritage Center for other neat regional history and artifacts.
Super retro vintage flip clock, made by General Electric likely in the 1960s. Mod design with rounded corners and oh-so cool details.
I picked up this old clock in an antique market in Taiwan during one of my many postings there (1998). The clock is made in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, I do not know its age. The interesting part about this clock is the glass panels on the side that allows you to see the clockwork in action. Happy to say the clock works perfectly well and chimes on the hour, every hour. It now lives its life as a bookend on my shelf.
Grand reminder of its days as a train station. With a scale model of the Statue Of Lberty right under it.

I really must get out more and take photos rather than staying indoors!
Started to read a collection of Scott Kelby's books which have been making me think a bit differently about what sort of photos I'm able to take... Good though.
Belton House - Lincolnshire
From the National Trust's website:
"The perfect English country house?
Built for Sir John Brownlow in the 1680s, Belton House has all the design features of a classic English country home. Sitting in formal Italian and Dutch gardens and an historic 1300 acre deer park, Belton is often cited as the quintessential country house estate."
