this will go in b&w underneath the etching outlines. planning on imageon developing this plate and printing both plates creating textures/outlines.
Here is something that I can (& may) use for work, but was made for fun & to try out a technique that I haven't used before.
The 'silhouette', 'knock out' or 'cut out' technique (from my experience) goes by different names. In Photography & Graphic design it's called a a "clipping mask" & in Video & Film it a "matte" or "travelling Matte".
I think it's an interesting technique & I may try a few more at some point but, currently I'm more interested in how I can use it in video. I 'm also posting a preliminary video tst.

Just a brief glimpse of the State so many people are running to. It does get a bit warm in the summer but overall we have very livable temperatures year round. We are coming into one now where there is no need for heat or A/C. No State income tax is a big help. Everyone thinks Florida gets lots of Hurricanes, but here on the west coast in the St Pete area, there has not been a destructive Hurricane for over 100 years.
Don't believe me , check the internet for Hurricanes hitting the St Pete area.

This dada collage was a little more challenging. I've been inspired by other Studio 26 members and how they have built cool collages. I also spent some time on google looking up pieces of classic 'dadaism'. This left me determined to try out a funky collage. Seeing how those were made, allowed me to relax about realism with rough edges on selections etc.
Now how to put it together? One scenic Hawaii, 2 NYC from the Empire State Building and 3 dog photos. It was time to make an imaginary world with the Hawaii lava rock-tide pool shot as the background. I thought an imaginary city on the beach might work well enough as the lighting and perspective were OK. Then paddle board Eva needed to join in on the water, and I tried to preserve some of her reflection. After that I added a couple more Eva's at the edges trying to blend it in so she was behind the rocky outcroppings. This left an open space in the middle, and I was completely unsure what to do with the NYC streets from above picture. As I pondered this I noticed all the Eva's were looking towards this empty space, so it needed some birds. Enter tons of frustration trying to modify a silhouette drawing of flying birds into a clipping mask (2 words I had never used together before last night) to make the birds from the NYC street shot.
End of the day it's bizarre, and completely out of the range of my normal. But, I think I like it.

EDIT - This is my final submission for the studio 26 Dada assignment. I was hesitant about the assignment, but in the end I like it because it pushed my processing and imagination in new and different ways. And, the clipping mask birds may return in the future.
Great mystery happens in old attics!
Everything in this attic was drawn using the Pen Tool, ellipse and rectangle in Photoshop.
All textures created using lighting, dodge and burn and filters.
Perspective with vanishing point and a horizon line to help line up the brick walls(started with a rectangle filled with gray), rafter floor, box and guitar. The guitar is not totally finished, ran out of time.
Learned so much doing this.
Oh, if only you could carve your own figure using the pen tool as I did this dress form!
All ideas from Steve Caplin's 100% Photoshop.

Strobist: See COMPOSITING tutorial here for in depth information - For the foreground shot of the girl, three flashes were hard wired. Two were aimed at a white background, the third from camera left fired threw a large piece of diffusion fabric. The foreground image was then composited with 3 other images to complete the scene.

From an art project I did in 2012. I never posted it as 1) the cosplayer (Scarlet Ambrose) did not respond (she did respond that she liked the original image from MDRF, tho) and 2) the company where I found the background image (blirk.net) is now defunct.
From the email (dtd 10/20/2012):
"Sometimes, I get inspired with my pics and use some add-on filters to create some artistic imagery. Attached is a copy of your original picture run through Topaz Labs "Simplify" filters, then I knocked out certain colors in the background and found a "World Tree" image then blended the two images together. I do not own the background image (it belongs to Blirk.net)."

Clipping path is a photo editing technique that is used to cut out the subject of an image from its background. Photoshop pen tool is the primary tool of drawing clipping path. One can easily replace the background of his or her photo by applying this technique.
I came across this photo in a group discussion in the How would YOU edit this?
group.

First I did a clean edit: removed some of the sand from the face; reduced the dark under the eyes; softened the skin; and lightened the eyes and teeth.
Then I ran the My 4 Hens Photography action "Flower Power" from the "Hippy Dippy Trippy" action set, reducing the opacity to 75% - myfourhensphotography.com/shop/?page_id=29.
Next I ran the "Faux flare love - from the left" action from Michelle Nicole's "Starlight" action set, reducing the opacity to 80% - actionsbymichellenicole.blogspot.com/2009/04/starlight-ac....
Finally I used the free Lightroom 3 preset "Toy Camera" from Olive Juice Shoppe, but had to tweak quite a few of the settings - olivejuiceshoppe.com/toy-camera-lightroom-preset-freebie-....

Used Marisa Hugonnett's Bittersweet action. Then followed the Coffee Shop Blog tutorial "Coffeeshop Vintage Clipping Mask Frames set 1 tutorial" using this texture www.flickr.com/photos/annalisa_gina/3201093065/.
Clipping Path makes your image transparent or backdrop-less what helps you to fit the photographs for promoting into the prospective customers
One of my favorite holiday baking treats is homemade marshmallows. Believe it or not they are very easy. I use a recipe from the Martha Stewart website. If you haven't tried them you should. I was also trying out some rounded corners in photoshop and I used Pioneer Woman's define and sharpen action. This picture was taken with my new 100mm macro lens. It's got great depth of field with the 2.8 aperture. I had the camera on a tripod using natural light in my livingroom on our early 1960's black vinyl sofa as the background. Fun on a Sat. am nursing a sinus infection. ;)
You can use any number of layers and clip them all together. You can add a fresh layer and clip it as well. You can resize and change the order of the layers even after clipping, The tutorial is here : photoshopper27.blogspot.com/2011/03/clipping-mask.html
An entry for the challenge group 115 in 2015, #15 The Number 2015.
I have been pondering over what to do for this challenge and decided that I would have a go at some 'Splash Effects' in Photoshop. Normally I am too lazy to do much editing in Photoshop, but yesterday being a rainy day, I sat down at my computer and played! I think our 6 year old grandchildren would be pleased with the end result :-))
The photographs used here were all taken this year, and all but one have already been used in the challenge groups that I belong to.
