Clothes clip for the Looking Close... On Friday group, topic: high key. Happy Friday!

Trombone

Submitted for the MACRO MONDAYS theme of the week : Vibrant Minimalism.

For this weeks Squared Circle I found a paper clip holder with a round opening and thought this would be interesting. The holder not only has a round opening but it is square. It also is clear so light can shine through it. I then used my ring flash for my light source which has a round opening. So I have a circle in a square in a circle in a square. The ring flash was turned on and placed upside down this allowed just a smaller amount of light in. After taking the photo I squared it and then rotated the finale shot 45 deg.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my photos, I welcome any feedback you might have good or bad this will help me to become a better photographer in the long run. Thanks in advance.

You can't stop the music, and you can't stop cycle of destruction and construction in our cities. This view along the back of Brisbane's iconic City Hall looks toward new construction at 62-80 Ann Street, Brisbane. As usual, a high crane is clipped onto the side of the building, I am glad that's not a workplace I ever had. In fact though, Jenny and I met when we were working in the electricity distribution industry in the previous building on this block.

We hadn't been into the city for quite a while and were surprised to see our old building, which was in fact relatively modern and clad in lovely sandstone completely demolished and replaced by this new and tall construction. As this shot was taken back in 2021, it is probably finished now and open. I hope they recycled that lovely sandstone.

Converging verticals....grrrr!

This is an Art Deco ceramic dress clip from the 1930s. It would probably have been worn as one of a pair on the neckline of a dress. The jug behind it on the left is a little older, coming from the 1920s, and the cup to its right dates from the 1950s. Once again, the miniature rose is from the local supermarket. :)

IANR 4001 (without a slug!), 3801, & 76--the company's own Jordan spreader--all dash southbound over Mud Creek, just south and east of Vinton, Iowa. I'm still getting in the swing of things manual-wise, so my shutter wasn't quite at what I would've been fully satisfied with, but this'll do. Thanks to mechanical problems on CIC property, I wouldn't really end up getting any salvageable shots of the spreader in action. Still though, it was quite a treat to chase, I can't complain. Oh yeah, just under a mile west of here, this extra met with the normal northbound CRWA, so that was neat. Although I wasn't there to witness said meet, the fact it even occurred is cool enough for me. Taken on 2/6/21.

The 1G76 Holyhead -Birmingham, New St. catches the evening sun as it heads out of LLanfairfechan , past Brunditts siding west and towards Pen-y-Clip viaduct, with Penmaenbach head in the background.

Dutch bluesman Bo Brocken (stage name: Big Bo) plays his Blues from the heart and soul. He has been around for quite a while now, touring Europe and the world for almost 30 years, playing his traditional style Blues. Performing as a one-man-band, using a full foot-operated drum set, acoustic and electric guitars, resonator guitars and Cigar Box Guitars, he plays traditional blues in Delta, Piedmont, Misissippi Hills and Ragtime style. He definately has a way of doing it. In his own high-handed style, he pays tribute to musicians like Robert Johnson, Skip James, Muddy Waters, Brownie McGhee, Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and many others, back from the old days when the Blues was born and he does it in a very convincing and genuine way. Certainly not all of the clips I've taken from 2024, but a good slice of memories.

It was a great year for photography and getting out with friends.

The African buffalo can be found in South Africa. This large wild bovine reaches up to 1.5 meters in shoulder height and can weigh up to 750 kg. While both sexes have horns, bulls are equipped with a heavier boss and upward curving horns. The African buffalo are bulk grazers and convert long grasslands to shorter grassy environments in the bushveld plains of South Africa. As a result, the African buffalo herds have an important impact on the ecological environment in South Africa. The African buffalo is a very sociable animal and can live in herds of up to 100 individuals. These large herds break into smaller groups when drought occurs in South Africa. With a gestation period of 330 days, 1 calf is born at a time. Peak breeding season occurs between March and May, with calves being born between January and April.

The African buffalo are frequently preyed upon by lions. African buffalo are known to rush to the defence of another herd member if it is under attack from a predator. In a large group, they are also able to ward off a pride of preying lions. The African buffalo is a member of the Big Five animals in South Africa, as a wounded buffalo is known to be extremely dangerous. Mainly found in woodland savannas across South Africa, the Kruger National Park has the highest concentration of African buffalo. Smaller populations can be found in Kwazulu Natal and Eastern Cape provinces. The African buffalo have very stern appearances, and have a tendency to look upon you as if you owe them money!

The photo was taken during September 2017 near Skukuza, Kruger National Park Mpumalanga, South Africa.

Binder clips are tools I keep at my desk. They are so useful for many things. This yellow one stands on the photo coaster I made with the speaker light on in the background and my anti static mat on the left.
