In the rose garden at the Ringling Museum. It was not the best day to photograph the roses because they had just been cut back and fertilized for the growing season, but I managed to find a few to capture.

A westbound BNSF oil train climbs the grades of Mullan Pass working through Austin, Montana, on the afternoon of July 1, 2020. Four Montana Rail Link SD70ACe locomotives are providing necessary tractive effort as a mid-train helper, between the pair of GEs on the lead and the lone DPU unit on the rear.

There aren't a lot of places in southwest Minnesota where trains have to fight steep grades, but a notable exception is the climb southbound BNSF trains make along the Redwood River from Marshall to Florence. This train was struggling about as hard as any I've seen along here. It took 25 minutes to make the 8 miles between Russell and the US 14 overpass at Florence. It will soon be rolling downhill again through the hills of the Buffalo Ridge toward Pipestone.

Some ideas are better in my head than in the actual execution. I guess that is why I keep working at it every day. How is it that some days I feel like I've never picked up a camera before or edited an image? Hoping your rainbows are easing to conquer than mine were today.

Climbing a tree trunk in Hunt Valley, Maryland. The Brood X was everywhere ... all over the ground, on the trees, and singing away. Very Loud!

A Southern Pacific CSUX coal empty climbs through the “S curves” at Crater, Colorado, on the afternoon of July 30, 1996. The head end with lone SP AC4400CW No. 298 has already passed through the cut that is visible at the top of the photo. Mid-train DPUs Nos. 217 and 371 climb between the curves in the middle, while rear DPUs follow below with Nos. 361 and 226.

Not something i would want to do, even the guy standing on the top was making me nervous! I don't mind heights as long as feel safe!

After overextending themselves acquiring Milwaukee Road, Soo Line established a wholly-owned division called Lake States Transportation Division on February 10, 1986, to operate its mostly former Soo Line trackage in Wisconsin and prepare it for sale. With this move, older locomotives and some leased power began to be much more common on these lines. On March 22, 1987, a southbound Soo Line (Lake States) freight climbs to the top of Byron Hill at Byron, Wisconsin, powered by two Soo EMD GP9s and a leased Conrail EMD GP38.
