Rowan Tree & Cleat, The Quiraing
Yes I know this iconic Rowan tree has been shot to death but I really don't care!
I shot it in 2022 see www.flickr.com/photos/184798091@N07/52053385765/in/album-... but this time I had in mind a couple of slight variations. These involved getting lower in the gulley which closes off some of the rock face on the right but gives you the opportunity to make the tree more prominent.
I'm still not sure I've found my ideal composition here but this one (and a portrait one I'll post soon) did give me shots I didn't have before. This image is the result of 6 sets of 3 bracketed/focus stacked images. The sunrise was fairly dull and unfortunately the snow from earlier in the week had mostly been washed away by rain but whilst I was taking this set the eastern face of Cleat started to catch some soft light which I liked.
Thanks for taking the time to view and hope you all have nice weekends.

A cleat for tying up boats to a floating boat ramp in Snowden Beach, Largs North. Not sure what the string is doing there, as it is doesn't seem to be attached to anything.
While the snow was gone in the woods in Saugatuck State Park, the trail was ice covered and slippery. I didn't think to bring my cleats, so I had to walk on the edges.
After a fascinating exploration and sunrise shoot up at the Needle on Quiraing I made my way back along this enchanting escarpment with this wonderful vista of the arching Cnoc a Mheirlich in the foreground with Cleat and Dun Dubh in the distance beyond the waters of Loch Leum na Luirginn and Loch Cleat.
The light was fabulous on this breezy fresh November morning at the tip of the Trotternish Peninsula of Skye.
The peak standing by itself is Cleat, part of the Trotternish, with Loch Cleat at its foot. I was at the pass looking away from The Quiraing when I took this photo.

M is for Minimalism- 2022 Alphabet Challenge
OK so this might not be a true minialistic image ... but ... all it is, is a cleat on a pontoon with some water, so not much there, but there are loads of textures, which could be it's downfall, but it'll do :)
One of the hundreds of Cleats on St Kilda in which the inhabitants used to store their supplies of dried guga (Salted and dried Gannet chicks).
