When forgiveness is received from ourselves or others and after the weight of the world seems removed from our shoulders, there is still an internal process that is important to face, one that takes time. A lot of time in fact. The poison associated with fear, shame, and judgement can be slow to dissipate. But there is a brighter side, a clean slate. We are creatures of adaption and our trials only make us stronger to face the oncoming waves. We are strong, we are brave, we are capable of things we can't even dream.
The wind had shifted and brought a cleansing breeze up from Lake Superior last Tuesday for this midday U717 that I normally wouldn't have gotten out of my recliner for. But it's spring and those aspens are set back among the pines.
But as the wind changed direction
And the temple band took five
The crowd caught a whiff
Of that crazy Casbah jive
"Take a shower, wash off the day. Drink a glass of water. Make the room dark. Lie down and close your eyes.
Notice the silence. Notice your heart. Still beating. Still fighting. You made it, after all. You made it, another day. And you can make it one more.
You’re doing just fine.
You’re doing fine.
I’m doing just fine.”

One day, almost unnoticed, I started saying to myself: The only way to be saved is to suffer.
I have no idea why I thought that. I mean literally - no idea. Just popped into my head.
I Googled it to see why those exact words landed on me. The first 3 results were bible verses: "If anyone's work is burned up, he will experience loss, but he himself will be saved--but only as through fire."
Interesting. Now I'm not a religious person (and this is not meant to be a religious post, but an academic/analytical one) but any text that talks about "work", "burned", "loss", "saved", and "fire" in the same sentence is speaking my poetic language.
- "If your work is burned up" - as artists, it happens all the time, metaphorically. We submit our cumulative efforts for judgment when we release what we've made, and in that submission, we lay bare and take it.
- "he will experience loss, but he himself will be saved" - the act of creating is the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, as it must be if we are to create something meaningful. It is release - letting of pieces of ourselves.
- "but only as through fire" - hardship and joy are the two things that connect the world. We mourn together, we rejoice together. Thus, they are the two things that connect us to ourselves. We mourn inside ourselves, over and over again, and when we find ourselves ready to keep going, we have a greater understanding of what makes us individual.
As in this image - sinking to save myself - I play with surrealism, texture, form, the sense of boiling skin and rough water. Sometimes we are saved by sinking. A cleansing. And when we emerge, we know something about ourselves that was previously hidden.
"A Cleansing", self-portrait, February 2021
My journey in Second Life began as an extension of my time on IMVU—a space where I could form connections, express my artistic self, and immerse myself in the beauty of shared creativity. Over time, I built meaningful relationships, collaborated with like-minded individuals, and navigated the highs and lows of virtual companionship. I’ve shared laughter and heartache, experienced conflicts and reconciliations, and, like many, even explored aspects of myself in ways that felt exciting and, at times, indulgent....
Sometimes you just need to walk down the beach, let the waves crash in and cleanse you of all the stress, aggravation and sadness in your life. Come on waves work your magic.
I desaturated all the colors in the original image except for the color green. From there, it took me to this scene. The original image was taken during a heavy thunderstorm in Kuching, East Malaysia. This was a small waterfall that popped up on the side of a hill.

The wonderful waterfall called Skogafoss in Iceland. The weather I had for my waterfall day was not the best. I had wished for better but grey flat light and rain was what I got. I had the best time though visiting these amazing forces of nature. I will be going back.

**NEW** [CC] Serpent of Light Sculpture Set
And last, but certainly not least! We have this super beautiful light set. A cute winged serpent with a glowy, crystal hanging below it - my own vision was more like a temple or place of worship, but I can certainly see these as center pieces to wondrous fantasy builds or to add a splash of magic to any home or space. ♥
Be sure to go and grab these from We♥RP!! Go, go!

I started the Wild Rose Herbal D-Tox Cleanse last Thursday.
I've been feeling pretty good, other than feeling a few pains throughout my body and craving a little bit of chocolate in the evening after dinner....
I will be finished September 9th...
I know what I'll be eating when I'm off this cleanse.....

Don't you just love productive days? (not talking about homework/school related stuff haha)
I just came home from 1) an animal awareness event that I really enjoyed volunteering in and 2) a program held by this college that involves leadership. I feel so good right now. And what's more, today is my sister's birthday. :) So we'll be going out to eat soon. I was hoping and wishing that today would turn out well, and it didn't. Because it turned out GREAT. God is goooood!
I smell opportunities.
Ambushed by a sudden storm, I watched, soaked but elated, as it travelled into the tempestuous waters where Bass Strait meets the Tasman Sea.
