Bluebird getting ready for Christmas

Yup. My doll room. always in need of house cleaning. I can't seem to keep it neat and that frustrates me!

You would think the dolls would pick up the slack.

The one dollhouse is covered because it is in view of my webcam that I use for work.

Apparently, we have been negligent in cleaning out this old birdhouse in our back yard. Consequently, this House Wren seems to have taken the matter in hand. It's such a tiny little bird but very voluble and energetic - spending all day cleaning house. Bits and pieces of hair, feathers, grasses, and other debris were tossed out, dragged out, and strewn out in all directions. It was fun to watch. All this activity was followed up with much singing and calling.

It seems there is lot's of symbolism around Wrens - the totem enters your life when you are sad and depressed and are unable to cheer yourself up. If their totems are good at something, it's spreading the joy that they have inside of them all around. www.sonomabirding.com/wren-symbolism/

In the fervor of cleaning previous nesting efforts from an old birdhouse in our back yard, this little Wren got a bit too energetic and nearly fell off the platform. There were several whoopsie daisy incidents but for such a tiny bird, they seem to have disproportionally large legs and feet with long claws - never once losing it's grip on the platform. PS: The debris on the platform was eventually tossed aside too.

At a nearby arboretum I noticed this Red-headed Woodpecker flying back and forth to this tree next to the lake.

I took lots of shots of him coming and going hoping to see a juvenile poke it's head out but the closest I got was the adult "taking out the trash" so perhaps there IS a little one in there, just not ready to greet the world quite yet.

There is washing windows and then there is washing the frames, the tracks, the rubber seals and the screens. :( . I LOVE clean windows. They add sparkle to life and sparkle to the dust on my toys shelves :(. I can be quite OCD when doing spring cleaning or deep cleaning having Q-tips, dental picks, toothbrushes, ice picks, knives, screwdrivers and a plethora of rags in my arsenal along with various cleaning products. So image my dismay after perfectly cleaning the first window, getting it all make in place only to see lots of scattered tiny little white short strands all over the window. Lint from the paper towel? I was so confused as I never had a problem with paper towels before. I tilted the window back out, I vacuumed the glass, the vacuum brush made smears, I cleaned the vacuum brush, rewashed the window, put back in place and "lint" was still there. I repeated the vacuuming procedure again, still "lint" I gave up and moved on to the next window. Later when I looked back at the first cleaned window the "lint" was gone. Maybe the "lint" was fairy babies just wanting to say hello. And if so then that means.............

Can you tell which window has been cleaned? The one on the far left has a screen and hasn't been cleaned. So you have a 50/50 chance to pick the right one.

The theme for this weeks Me Again Monday group was A day in the life. Yes it seems for me as a stay at home mom I am always cleaning, doing laundry, picking up toys, scrubbing dirty dishes, etc., but I wouldn't change it for any other job. (Well maybe an ice cream taster...is there such a job?)

*sigh*

My aunt invited me to drive back with her to see my mom. Unfortunately she asked me a day before she wanted to go. Most of the time I woulda said yes. But stuff at work is going crazy since Tom "left". Some stuff blew up in my face today because of the work policy of "double everything". I gave a detailed report about my end and I don't think it will ALL come back solely on me since I'm not the only one who didn't catch a typo, but we'll see.

What's funny is 10 minutes before this happened they expressed interesting in hiring me on as a permnant employee. I can't help but laugh at that proposition cause well... been there done that, stopped holding my breath. But I can bet that after today, they might not continue that route. Whatever. After everything I've survived this year I know that everything is replaceable. My job included.

Unfortunately, I can't think like that now, so I did my best to C.M.A. (cover my ass) and of course I named everyone I could think of that was involved and have all the emails to document it. Ugh. Guess I'm more worried about it than I want to let on.

Anyway. It was a definite eye opener. So yea. I didn't go see my mom because 1. My aunt wanted to leave at a certain time and 8pm was too late for her and 2. I need to catch up on some work over the weekend. So traveling wouldn't have been in my best interest. Besides Mom & Dad are gonna come visit for the Halloween weekend.

Lately, I've had a complete and utter lack of focus. Contributing Factors: Personal problems, Fires in California, lack of time in general, I hate traffic, stores don't stay open late enough for my personal convenience, it's starting to get cold, I still have stuff I'm *missing* that I really don't care to replace but have no choice BUT to replace because of changing weather, um.... I can't even make a shopping list, so the two times I went shopping earlier this week, I didn't bring home everything I needed. Which means I need to go out again. Have I mentioned I hate shopping?

But I did *start* a list this time. The stuff that's on it is the stuff I need, but don't need on a day to day basis.

I've had a few people come over to my humble apartment and I'm so embarrassed at how much I neglect cleaning it. My house was never this dirty. What's wrong with my lack of upkeep?

If I was living with somebody I know they'd be going crazy with my slobbyness. But then again, if I was living with somebody I don't think that would be an issue. Hmm. Maybe that's a perk of being single.

Oh well. Whatever. I'm wearing patent leather 3 inch wedges just to clean my loo. I RULE!

I cleaned out our home office over the holidays. Rediscovered a number of interesting things ... and a few things that are obsolete, such as this collection of old diskettes. Just to be safe, I decided to destroy them.

Since my maid departed, nearly 18 years ago, i have had to do my own dusting and general pick-up of nuisance clutter like pencil shavings, cupcake crumbs, soup cans and candy wrappers.

Tis the season for spring cleaning. I like to get it finished before it's time to work in the garden, that means a little before spring around here. Time to wash the curtains, clean the light fixtures, clean out dressers & closets and move all the furniture and scrub the floors.
