E' arrivato il momento piĆ¹ importante dell'iniziativa Save the Beach: la pulizia della spiaggia.
Con la collaborazione di Surfrider, la Fondazione internazionale che educa e diffonde consapevolezza verso la cura e lo sfruttamento delle spiagge, e l'appoggio della FEE (Fondazione di Educazione Ambientale), il 23 luglio viene recuperata la spiaggia di Capocotta, che gli utenti di www.coronasavethebeach.org hanno eletto tra le 10 finaliste di quest'anno.
La manifestazione si concluderĆ infine sabato 25 luglio, sempre presso il Mecs Village, con una grande FESTA per celebrare tutti insieme l'avvenuta restituzione a questa spiaggia di Roma della sua bellezza perduta.

We got through about 40% of the monographs at the library and identified some projects that we need to work on over the year. We had help from wonderful volunteers from ProQuest as part of their Library Volunteer Program. Through this program, they send volunteers to local libraries to assist with projects like this.
Today the fella from Hearth & Home showed up to clean our gas fireplace. It was dusty but that's normal. We won't be using it as much as in the past because we now have a Heat Pump that will be used as our main source of heating. The fireplace will become our back-up but I'd like to use it on special occasions too.

Every other Saturday (aka my only FOR SURE day off), I spend the late morning/early afternoon cleaning the apartment. And I mean really cleaning. I wash all the dishes, scrub the tub, clean the stove, clear off the counters, organize loose papers/mail, vacuum the living room, dust, sweep & mop the floor. There's usually laundry involved too. And by the end of the cleaning process, there's usually 2 full garbage bags and some broken down boxes ready for the garbage chute. The apartment gets dirty again after only a couple of days, but this biweekly routine keeps the apartment live-able.

Friday is cleaning day for Mo & Jo's cage. After the last fiasco, I was very careful to use a cage cleaner specifically for pet rodents, and I saved some of the bedding with their scent/ urine on it to put back inside so they weren't shocked by the clean/ sterile enclosure.
They seemed much happier and not as stressed this time. I'm learning.

But Sunday night I had a wild hare and deep cleaned the fridge. We're talking all shelves and drawers pulled and scrubba dub dubbed, gaskets de-grossed, and holiday leftovers tossed.

Saturday 26.05. was Cleaning Day in Finland. 'The neatest festival of the year changes cities and neighborhoods into huge flea markets and marketplaces.'
We went to DallapƩnpuisto to sell a bunch of extraneous items we'd gathered. I spent most of the day driving stuff to and from there and doing other supportive tasks. Definitely an interesting experience, and quite literally a neat idea.

Cleaning day. Bathroom, kitchen...... a little bit scared to get down to business cleaning up the bedroom. I have a leave-my-clothes-on-the-floor problem.
Allergies are still making me puffy, congested, tired, itchy, and somewhat miserable. It feels unfair to feel so crappy when it's warm and springtime. I hate taking medicine but I've been trying every antihistamine and nasal spray and even took my first ever decongestant before going to teach (wow, that stuff works).
