I've just arrived home. Sarb never had any experience with cats before she met Tessa. Now I am delighted to hear her calling to Tessa as she cleans my house. "Tessa, do you want to vacuum or dust?" and then "OK, Tessa, let's mop the floor now".
Between the two of them they do a dandy job!
Oliver finished this part of the house, it was the worst. It looks so white again! I'm so glad I'm getting this done. He is also cleaning the barn.
Is anyone else getting stressed if their house is messy?
It’s sometimes driving me nuts. I am not a clean freak, but when I start tripping on cardboard boxes scattered around the house or there is no space on the kitchen counter not even for a toothpick, then it’s bothering me more and more.
But when it’s clean it’s amazing! I feel more light and more productive!

I was recently asked to create an image for a play called "Clean House" (for a not-for-profit theatre called the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble). These images weren't chosen but I thought I'd post them anyway because it was rather fun being given a fairly tight remit and having to work within that scope. At the Clean House yard sale, I built the stuffed animal table. I had to get a pic before the sale started and it was destroyed.

I used to have a cross stitch with that on it, hanging so it was the first thing you saw when you came up the stairs into my house... then my daughter took it for her house. Wonder which of her daughters will take it. :-)
My mother-in-law once told me your house should always be clean for the first of the year, can't remember if it was for good luck or that my house would be clean all year long... but I do remember she told me it had to be clean... so that is what I am working on this week during my vacation. Getting my house in order for the New Year and New Beginnings. Anyone want some old issues of Photoshop User? I have them from 2001.... time to purge... since I've upgraded about 6 or 7 times since I first started receiving it... :-)

My mom is coming today!!! Washing the dishes was the first step of a whole house cleaning. I had been putting off doing major cleaning for a long time so this was my oppurtunity to catch up ... i cleaned the fridge, matthew got rid of all the dust bunnies under our bed and we got rid of a bunch of piled up paper/letters etc. Feels good to finally get to doing the things you have been meaning to do! Now i can go enjoy being with my mom!! YAY!!

And I didn't have to do the work. The girls just left and the house smells fresh and sparkles. I am GRATEFUL that we are able to hire a service to clean our home.
When we were a DINK family - I did my own cleaning. But now that I'm a SAHM - I have someone do it for me. Isn't that crazy?
Back then, it was just the two of us, we were never home, had a small house, traveled a lot, ate out and didn't mess things up as much.
Now we have a busy daughter and a bigger house, life just seems to be a lot less tidy.
I am thankful for the help. I worked hard and saved my money for many years to be able to afford these luxuries so I don't feel guilty (well maybe just a bit). During job transition times, we've done without, and it certainly makes me more appreciative when I'm able to hire them back.

clean house.
this morning, i woke up with an itch... i discovered a small black insect on my arm. was it a flea?!
i quickly jumped out of bed, ripped off the sheets, and began to investigate... I couldn't find any fleas on my little dog, but continued in kicking him out of the room! where else could it have come from? "i think i'll give him a flea bath," thought i.
after i said my morning prayer, i continued to the dresser where i would pick out the days clothing, and proceed to the shower. to my HORROR, i discovered a few dead ants on top of my dresser! curiousity sets in, and i look around to see if there are anymore... and that's when i saw it.... hundreds.. maybe thousands of dead ants all over my window sill!! it was like a nightmare come true.
the rest of my morning was spent cleaning everything in the bedroom, including window sills, dusting dressers, pictures, jewelry boxes, the TV set, vacuuming the carpet, etc.
then finally, i was able to take my shower!
::sigh::
lastnight, i had what i like to call a "Tamara Tantrum" in all of it's raging glory! my poor dog, my poor husband, and i were all scared of what i was going to do next. i can't tell you exactly what on earth happened.. but it happened! i had to ask God to help me sort out my brain, to give me answers.. to keep me from harming myself or my belongings. billy suggests xanax.. i suggest that he shove that thought up his nose! i don't need xanax, i need to deal with things on my own! i need to get a grip on my life, and figure this out by myself! i need someone to understand what i'm talking about when i am rambling, to listen, but not to judge me. i need focus.. i need to love myself.
i feel really stupid revealing this on my flickr blog, but this is turning out to be more like a diary.. only with pictures this time. :) unfortunately, my hands cramp up anytime i try to write things down.. so this is the best way i can get things off of my chest. and maybe, just maybe somebody out there knows what i'm saying.
i love my husband, i love my life, i love everything that i've been blessed with, that i don't deserve. i feel just plain evil sometimes.

Sarah and I are big of the show Clean House. (Sarah being the #1 Super Fan). If you've never seen the show, it's about a group of kooky style people who go into really cluttered houses, clean 'em out, sell the stuff at a yard sale and then redo the house to be all organized. Sarah found out that one of the yard sales was going to be near us, so we got Sarah's mom and we all went! It was a singularly unique mix of a live TV show and a very real yardsale going on at the same time. So we picked up some crap, haggled for it, all while being filmed. It was actually pretty fun. Reality TV baby! Who knows if they'll use the footage of us when the show airs. I mean I'm sure they'll use *me*. I hope to parlay my appearance into my own show. I just need a really solid agent.
