A Lovely 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback Coupe (Model [63A]), Registration “OGU 652D”, Dressed-Up To Resemble A 1966 Shelby GT350. The Lack Of Quarter Windows, W/ Standard Fastback ‘stang Louver/Vents In Place, Different Rear Bumper, Missing Rear GT350 Badge, Mustang GT-Spec Interior Door Trim Panel, Etc - All Indicate This Is Not An Authentic Shelby - But A Very Nice Tribute Car Nonetheless, And Looked Absolutely Stunning Up-Close In Person. Painted In Period-Correct “Candy Apple Red” W/ “Wimbledon White” Stripes. Has A 4-Barrel, 4.7-Litre 289-Cubic Inch Windsor V8 (Either An “A”, “C” Or “K”).
This 2+2 Mustang Fastback 63A Series Is One Of 35,698 Examples Produced For The ’66 Model Year, Whereas An Estimate Of Just 2,386 Authentic Shelby Units Were Built The Same Year.
I Saw This Beauty Stranded On The Side Of The Road Up In Ryedale, North Yorkshire, U.K., On The 16th Of September, 2017. The Car Had Suffered A Slight Mechanical Hiccup, But All Three Friendly Occupants Were In Very Good Spirits, And They Had The Car Up-And-Running Again In No Time, IIRC.
A Close-Up Of The Engine Bay Of A 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback Coupe [65A], Dressed-Up As A Shelby GT350 Tribute Car. This Is The Very Clean A 4-Barrel, 4.7-Litre 289-Cubic Inch Windsor V8 Which Was Being Worked On At The Roadside Due To A Small Mechanical Malfunction. Although The Chrome Air Cleaner Has The Period-Correct “289 Cubic Inches High Performance” Sticker, I Am Not Sure If That Is Original, Nor Did I Get A Decent Close-Up Of The Original VIN, So This Crate Could Be Either An “A-Code”, “C-Code” Or Even The Coveted “K-Code/HiPo” Build Of Specific 289-CID Engines. Mustang Specialists, Please Shed Some Light!
The saying goes "Engine clean enough to eat on" - Well, suspect you could cook the meal on the super charger cover and serve it up on it too!
IC&E 6433 and two leaser units trailing are pulling hard as crest the top of Brier Hill, Just 2 miles East of Hampshire IL. On yet another crapy day in April. The IC&E still hanging in there as a total SD40-2 railroad..And a few GP40's & GP 38's..
