Die evangelisch-lutherische Marktkirche zum Heiligen Geist ist die historische Hauptkirche im Ortsteil Clausthal der Bergstadt Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Sie ist die größte Holzkirche Deutschlands und gehört durch ihre Architektur und Ausstattung zu den bedeutendsten Baudenkmälern des norddeutschen Barocks.

The Upper Harz Ponds (German: Oberharzer Teiche) are found mainly around the mining town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld and the nearby villages of Buntenbock and Hahnenklee in the Upper Harz mountains of central Germany. There are around 70 ponds in total, both large and small. They were built by the miners of the Upper Harz, mostly between the 16th and 18th centuries, and are important components of the cultural monument known as the Upper Harz Water Regale - a network of dams, ditches, ponds and tunnels that was built to supply much-needed water power for the mining industry in the Harz mountains. Today the Water Regale is being proposed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. About half the dammed ponds are classified today as reservoirs, but they have now become characteristic features of the Upper Harz and are home to some extremely rare plant and animal species.
Winter has definitely arrived - although this is yet another capture from last year. We had sort of a blizzard today with at least 10 inches of snow - and guess what? It is snowing again. Hoping for some good light tomorrow and some sort of a footpath ;-). You all have a great weekend, may the good light be with you as well...

im Harz. Bei einer Wanderung bei den Oderteichen in der Nähe vom Torfhaus im Harz konnten wir noch den Schnee genießen. Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein und blauem Himmel machte das Wandern Spaß und die Kamera kam häufig zum Einsatz.
Der Harz ist ein Mittelgebirge und die höchste Erhebung im Norden Deutschlands.

Eine Striegelanlage ist ein Verschlussorgan von Kunstteichen kleiner Stauanlagen. Sie sind entweder frei zugänglich oder mit kleinen Hütten umbaut, dem so genannten Striegelhaus oder Striegelhäuschen. Die Absperrschieber der alten Staudämme der Revierwasserlaufanstalt Freiberg und des Unterharzer Teich- und Grabensystems werden von alters her so genannt.
Clausthal-Zellerfeld/Harz GER
Das ehemalige Clausthaler Amtshaus war Verwaltungsgebäude für alle bergbaulichen Angelegenheiten und zugleich Amtssitz des Berghauptmanns. Das repräsentative Amtsgebäude befindet sich direkt gegenüber der Marktkirche zum Heiligen Geist, die im Zentrum des historischen Marktplatzes steht. So standen sich im Herzen Clausthals weltliche und kirchliche Macht gegenüber.

Wildemann is a town and a former municipality in the district of Goslar, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It has been part of the town Clausthal-Zellerfeld since January 1 2015. It is situated in the west of the Harz, northwest of Clausthal-Zellerfeld. It was part of the former Samtgemeinde ("collective municipality") Oberharz.

Since 2013 it has the original blue color back.

Winter in all its sunny and cold glory today. Took half a day off from work - you never know how long this glorious weather lasts. Walked back home, which took me about an hour with photo-stops.Am happy to live where I live. And even more so on a beautiful winter wonderland day like this :-). Hope you'll enjoy as much as I did and still do ~ am heading out again now ;-).

Eine Striegelanlage ist ein Verschlussorgan von Kunstteichen kleiner Stauanlagen. Sie sind entweder frei zugänglich oder mit kleinen Hütten umbaut, dem so genannten Striegelhaus oder Striegelhäuschen. Im Oberharzer Wasserregal gab es zwei Arten von Striegelanlagen, die von der Bauart des Teiches abhängig war. Bei der alten bis etwa zum Jahre 1700 verwendeten Bauart hatte der Damm eine Außendichtung und das Striegelhaus, das mit dem Damm über einen Steg verbunden war, stand im Wasser. Bei den neueren Teichen wies der Damm eine Innendichtung auf und das Striegelhaus stand auf dem Damm.

Die größte Holzkirche Deutschlands. Leider wegen Renovierung nicht geöffnet. Außerdem viele Bauwagen und Zäune.
Taken about a year ago - with just a little dusting of snow. Am taking a short break as well and will try to catch up ASAP.
