Bear with me folks, I am still organizing photos from a trip to Europe almost a year ago now. Egads! And we're heading off to Ireland and France in October. It seems as soon as we return from one trip, we're on to the next. I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong. It's wonderful being retired. I wouldn't have the time to work nowadays!

Rendinghu Park, near Deshengmen Gate Beijing, contains several landscapes. The park originated in the 1950's and underwent considerable renovation in 2007. One of its fascinating features is the partially sunken pseudo-Grecian/Roman style gardens.

These caryatids are based on the Ionic Temple of the Erechtheum on the Acropolis in Athens. They guard the entrance to the crypt below. They are made from artificial stone. One comment online says that the caryatids had to be shortened in their middles to fit in the space built for them. They do look slightly stunted, don't they? The crypt makes a most atmospheric exhibition and performance space.
