Ivan and the classic Sunset Arête

Más fotos de mi cámara digital. Ya era hora de caer de nuevo en la típica foto de puesta de sol, no?

More pics from my digital camera. It's time to post the classic sunset shot, ain't it?

The classic sunset picture of the most famous landmark in Arches NP.

First of 3 shots I took recently around Bodensee using ND 3 filter - here classic sunset.

sunset, that is. ND graduated filter to keep the sky exposure under control. Tripod right in the water, not such a brilliant idea but I washed it in fresh water.

A classic sunset down at East Coast Outfitters. There isn't much better then watching the sun go down sitting in a kayak out on the Atlantic Ocean.

Cannon Beach, USA

I've always wanted to visit Cannon Beach again. I went with my parents when I was about 5 years old. I remember sea lions, clam chowder, my dad missing the highway turnoff for our hotel, and a lot of detours caused by really bad weather and flooding. You know, the typical family trip of our childhoods. Obviously not a lot of fun for a 5 year old --- hahaha!

So, a little bit older and hopefully a little more "cultured", I drove down from Vancouver with my mom a couple of years ago (my dad had just recently died), hoping to imitate some of the many great sunset images I've seen taken along this famous beach.

Well, things started off well. We arrived at about 3pm, just in time to catch the "golden hour". Amazing light with lots of mist. Great atmosphere. I instantly saw why this place is so famous.

Unfortunately, the trip went downhill from there. The next day was overcast and it was windy and cold. Rather than walk the beach, we made due by seeing some of the amazing galleries in the town and had some pretty good pizza as well.

The third day was worse. Rained all day, heavy fog, very cold, and extremely windy. Both of us were in pretty bad moods. Me because my hopes for a classic sunset were dashed and my mom... I don't know. Maybe the fact that we were back in a place that she had been to many years before with my dad brought back happy family memories and the thought of him gone now made her sad.

Anyways, with all that weighing on us, we decided to brave the conditions and go back down to the beach for a final walk before heading home. As I parked the car, there was a slight break in the weather. We quickly got out of the car and walked towards the beach.

About 20 meters in front of us were these 3 elderly people sitting on a bench. They were at least 70 years old and having a great time chatting with each other despite the cold, wind and on and off showers. Either because of age or the fact they were having so much fun together, they didn't hear or see me behind them as I shot away for several minutes.

Blue Spring is the winter home to numerous endangered manatees, Blue Spring is 2,644 acres of enchantment. Temperatures in the spring run remain a constant 72 degrees, creating a safe haven for the manatee during the cooler months and a cooling swim for humans during the long hot days of summer. Though the manatees have now dispersed into the open St. Johns River, each sunny day brings new chances to see other wildlife; bird watching is especially good in the springtime.

The Loew's Jersey Theatre is a movie palace type theater and live entertainment venue located in Journal Square, Jersey City, New Jersey. Opened in 1929, it was one of the five Loew's Wonder Theatres, a series of flagship Loew's movie palaces in the New York City area. It was designed by the architectural firm of Rapp and Rapp in a Baroque/Rococo style. The theatre was converted into a triplex venue in 1974, and then closed in 1986, then it was dark for years. It was purchased by the city in 1993 and since then been operated by a volunteer organization, the Friends of the Loews. The theater was designated as a New Jersey Registered Historic Site in 2009. In a move opposed by Friends of the Loews, the city in June 2014, agreed to let AEG Live operate the venue. (Wikipedia)

On the night of Saturday, 27 September 2014, on the 85th Anniversary of the theatre’s opening, a friend and I attended the showing of the classic, “Sunset Boulevard” (1950), complete with a pre-movie musical interlude played on the theatre’s grand organ, and concluding with the audience singing, “Happy Birthday.”

Ahh the classic sunset. What a great evening of light we had.

A classic sunset, but the clouds and the light emerging above like a crown made me post it anyway. Why not - it is a Christmas Eve sunset
