A 8.5km off-road cycle path from Clontarf to Sutton along Dublin bay has been completed twenty five years after work first began.
Dublin City Council has agreed to spend €500,000 to lower and reface part of the recently built flood defence sea wall in Clontarf.
The wall was built as part of the €5 million Clontarf cycle path which opened in may 2017 following two years of construction.
After a bitter dispute with local residents, the council agreed to reduce the height of the wall by up to 30cm along almost half a kilometre opposite St Anne’s Park.
The reduction in height will provide protection against a 100-year tidal event rather than the national standard of a 200-year tidal event, and for only half the allowance for sea-level rise expected by the end of the century.
The cost of the work is estimated at €230,000 to reduce the height of the sea wall and €300,000 for stone cladding.

Single most parsimonious cladogram recovered by the cladistic analysis using the branch-and-bound method.See the data matrix employed in Table S1. Agriarctos spp. includes A. gaali, A. vighi and A. depereti. Numbers above each clade indicate bootstrap support over 50%. The cladogram further incorporates the known stratigraphic range for each taxon. Cladogram metrics: tree length, 159 steps; Consistency Index, 0.553; Retention Index, 0.710; Homoplasy Index, 0.447.

A 66 foot bronze-clad sculpture named Verity created by world famous artist Damien Hirst has been loaned to North Devon Council for the next 20 years .
On Tuesday 16 October 2012, Verity was hoisted into position giving residents and visitors their first glimpses of her standing tall on Ilfracombe's Pier.
The statue of Verity pregnant holding a sword aloft and standing on a base of legal books is meant to be a 'modern allegory of truth and justice'
The figure's stance is taken from Edgar Degas' late 19th Century Little Dancer of Fourteen Years and is referenced by Damien Hirst in his earlier bronze Virgin Mother from 2005.
The title 'Verity' is from the Italian word of Truth, while she holds the traditional symbols denoting justice – a sword and scales.
