One of the more significant (though regrettably neglected) historical monuments of Trecastagni, a village on the southeastern slope of Mount Etna volcano in Sicily, the "Vecchio Mulino" or "Antico Mulino" stands before the snow-clad mountain and the active, glowing lava flowing down its upper eastern flank since nearly 8 months. The freshly fallen snow is illuminated by the (not yet full) moon. Photo taken on the evening of 7 January 2009

As more and more car dealerships consolidate branches and property this is leaving ideal opportunities for 'car supermarkets' to move into pre-prepared locations easily.

This was formerly Marshall Honda - they moved out in December 2017 to consolidate all activities in Narborough (south of Leicester city).

The site doesn't have a good past record - another former tenant was Swithland Motors.

"The Leicestershire-based Swithland Motors dealership chain was supported by an intricate web of false accounts, bogus transactions, falsified documents and ingenious scams to deceive bankers, investors, vehicle finance companies and the auditors, Coopers & Lybrand. The company collapsed owing some £15m in November 1993, days after plans for a stock market flotation were abandoned."

The accountant and Managing Director served jail time.

Imperial Cars are poised to move in. They get a pretty bad scores at the online review type websites.

Our second visit to a university this month. This time it is drop off Daughter #1. The house is going to be very quiet. Now we just need to get all her stuff that is down here, up there.

The building is being re-cladded, despite it already being perfectly safe. Odd.

The porch extending into the bay is a speciality in N15. This one is especially fine. Even the doorway has survived the cladder's makeover.. An interesting pair for conjecture.

Edmonton stone cladding a very nice triptych.

Strict consensus cladogram of two equally parsimonious trees of Pantherinae relationships (L = 103; CI = 0.66; HI = 0.34; RI = 0.65; RC = 0.43) based on 523 ingroup (Neofelis; Panthera) and 37 outgroup (Leopardus pardalis; Puma concolor) specimens from [1] computed in PAUP.

Panthera zdanskyi is the sistertaxon of P. tigris. Bootstrap values indicated are 1000 replications. Art work by Velizar Simeonovski (Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago).

Seattle Tower (1928, 97m). The exterior is clad with 33 colors of brick which architects controlled to achieve a subtle gradation, from dark earth tones at the base, to much lighter hues at the top.

This shot is a 3-photo vertical panorama. I did a lot of cloning to be rid of modern clutter and fix a stitching ghost. Slight adjustments to the color saturation and contrast brought out the color variance in the facade which is difficult to see even in person.

Phylogenetic relationships among labroid families analyzed in this study.Shown is a representative cladogram based on all sequences except those of tRNAs (i.e., data set #3), with numbers representing RAxML bootstrap values above and Bayesian posterior probabilities below the branches. Numbers at internal nodes relate to entries in the Supplementary Table S6 in File S1, where all calculated support values are given. The tree was rooted with the sequences of two outgroup species: Bajacalifornia megalops and Alepocephalus agassizii.

William Sinclair Horticulture's 2-ft 6-in gauge railway serving the peat bog at Cladance Moss, near East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, proved to be the last operational peat railway in Britain. On 2nd June 2015, Alan Keef 4-wheel diesel-hydraulic 05 581 (W/No.18 of 1985) stands at the tippler as the first of its rake of five peat cars is uloaded. Within two months this railway operation was no more and so ended a centtury-old tradition of using narrow gauge tramways to transport harvested peat.
