Inowrocław is a city with a population of almost 75,000. residents. One of the oldest Polish cities, founded in the years 1231–1267. Already in the 11th century, this area was quite a dense settlement complex, probably associated with the oldest salt works.

The strict city center is typical of towns founded in the Middle Ages. The central square is a rectangular market square with streets diverging from it. Most of the tenement houses existing at them date back to the 19th century. On the developed market square there is a modern fountain and a figure of Queen Jadwiga, the patron of Inowrocław.

Krakow is a very charming old town in Poland, and my hometown. Some of my American friends say it's as beautiful as Prague.

The main square of the Old Town of Kraków, Lesser Poland, is the principal urban space located at the center of the city. It dates back to the 13th century, and at roughly 40,000 m2 (430,000 ft2) is one of the largest medieval town squares in Europe.

The Project for Public Spaces (PPS) lists the square as the best public space in Europe due to its lively street life.

The main square is a rectangular space surrounded by historic townhouses (kamienice) and churches. The center of the square is dominated by the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), rebuilt in 1555 in the Renaissance style, topped by a beautiful attic or Polish parapet decorated with carved masks. On one side of the cloth hall is the Town Hall Tower (Wieża ratuszowa), on the other the 10th century Church of St. Adalbert and 1898 Adam Mickiewicz Monument. Rising above the square are the Gothic towers of St. Mary's Basilica (Kościół Mariacki). Kraków Main Square does not have a town hall, because it has not survived to the present day.

A quiet winter night in the city center. The bronze-cast cyclist stands watch over the cobblestones, as the old Town Hall glows red and Christmas lights sparkle in the trees.

St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow, Russia, was built by Ivan the Terrible between 1555 and 1561. According to legend, the builder of this cathedral was blinded so that such a beautiful structure could never be built again. The cathedral is vividly colorful and contains redbrick towers that add to its beauty. The church’s design consists of nine chapels, each mounted with its individual dome that marks the assault on the city of Kazan.

In the north are the ruins of Jerash's Greco-Roman city, some of the best preserved in the world.

Built in AD 162 over the remains of an earlier Roman temple, the Temple of Zeus was once approached by a magnificent stairway leading from the temenos (sacred courtyard). Today, lizards sun themselves in the cracks of pavement, oblivious to the holy sacrifices that used to take place here. Positioned on the summit of the hill, the temple towers above the city. Despite erosion and earthquakes, enough of this once-beautiful building remains to allow visitors to understand its former importance.

A path leads from the temenos to the temple, via a welcome stand of trees. You can pause here for a panorama of the forum and a small hill of pines. As you walk from the trees to the temple, notice the intricate friezes of floral and figurative motifs unearthed by French excavations. The delicacy of the design contrasts strikingly with the massive size of the building blocks that comprise the temple's inner sanctum.

In normal times the famous Vrijthof of Maastricht overflows with people, and laughter, and cafes and restaurants, and great conviviality. Now Covid-19 reigns...

I had to go down to that southernmost city of The Netherlands although I'd rather not have...

It's empty now; a few stragglers, a few homeless people... a few tourists defying common sense.

Ancient buildings such as the Basilica of St Servatius and red-towered St John's. Meager Christmas decorations... And yours truly with Sams.

Piazza San Marco was constructed in the ninth century out in front of the original St. Mark's Basilica and Doge's Palace. In addition to the great examples of architecture, this square is filled with people and flocks of pigeons.

Pigeons have long been a problem in the square. They have caused much damage to the delicate mosaics on St. Mark's Basilica and to other buildings around the piazza. Several attempts have been made to control pigeons population but few have been even slightly successful. Only recently did the city pass a law that banned the feeding of these birds.

Being in the center of this square, initially, my attention was attracted by the pigeons, and I just photographed of them. But when I saw the photo, I realized that a young woman in red clothes is the central figure of this composition.

The sculpture Empowerment over the River Witham, outside the Waterside Shopping Centre, Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

Designed by the artist Stephen Broadbent, sponsored by Alstom Power (now Siemens), and completed in 2002 at the cost of £100,000. It takes the form of two aluminium-and-steel human figures reaching to each other across the water. The design is intended to echo the shape of turbine blades, in recognition of Lincoln's industrial heritage. The official opening 1st February 2002 by Gillian Merron MP

At 16 metres tall, Empowerment is the largest sculpture in Lincolnshire. Increasingly, it is used alongside more traditional images of Lincoln — the cathedral and castle — as a recognisable 'tourist emblem' of the city (similar to the adoption of the Angel of the North as a symbol of North East England).

Thank you all for taking a look at my gallery, its much appreciated!
