I was just going through some of my old shots of the weekend event Conor Oberst played called Brighten the Corners. They only did a couple of them in Chicago but it was really fun. They had a circus tent and some performers going on all weekend, which is something I don't get to see or photograph all the time and I don't think I've posted any of them to Flickr.

Recognised as one of the most photographed spots in Edinburgh, Circus Lane is full of history. Built in the early 19th century, the row of mews houses was initially used as equestrian stables and accommodations for the staff of the very wealthy residents of nearby Royal Circus.
The footsteps of galloping horses and the sound of busy drivers, footmen and stable boys running errands are no longer heard on these cobbled streets. Nowadays, it is an idyllic residential site. Many of the previous stables are now converted into garages.
Travellers from all over the world visit Circus Lane to admire the vibrant floral displays, cute Georgian mews houses, colourful doors and the picturesque setting with towering St Stephen’s church in the backdrop.

The Circus Maximus is an ancient Roman chariot-racing stadium and mass entertainment venue in Rome, Italy. In the valley between the Aventine and Palatine hills, it was the first and largest stadium in ancient Rome and its later Empire

Circus Lane is one of the best little hidden gems in Edinburgh.
Circus Lane is nestled in Stockbridge but few people know about it! It’s definitely worth a short stroll down, as it’s one of the most charming streets in Edinburgh. Stockbridge is known as an artists, writers, poets, and musicians’ area, and Circus Lane truly embodies the laid back, whimsical, and quirky charm that flows through the neighbourhood. With it’s cobbled path and ivy-framed doorways, Circus Lane is a quick stop that you absolutely shouldn’t miss
Circus Lane is a mews lane from around 1765. A mews lane is essentially, a row of stables and carriage houses that had homes or spaces to live directly above them (like a modern day garage). They were actually built on the backside of homes, typically owned by more wealthy residents. So even in 1765, Circus Lane was a hot spot!
I started my walk from Princes street, I took a turn into Frederick street and walked down until I saw St. Stephen’s Church at the very end. Frederick street changed its name several times, but you just walk straight down. The church was completed in 1828, designed by William Henry Playfair, and home to Europe’s longest clock pendulum! Circus lane is located on the left side of the church
