A photograph circulating on Facebook of two young Egyptians kissing in the street stirred both outrage and admiration. Shared by Ahmed ElGohary, a commentator objected to ‘the lack of manhood’ entailed by sharing such photo. Others praised the beauty of it and its revolutionary sense.

Public display of affection is widely frowned upon in Egypt, as laws of public indecency could be used to prosecute those who publicly show affection or drink alcohol on the streets.
Alongside the photo, ElGohary shared lyrics of Youssra El Hawary's song On The Street. El Hawary an upcoming independent singer and her songs proved a youtube success. On The Street's lyrics read:
Some people curse each other, kill each other on the street,
Some people sleep on the floor on the street,
Some people sell their honor on the street,
But it would truly be a scandal if one day we forgot and kissed each other on the street!

This is a very well circulated and clipped piece. The eight pointed Moroccan Star encloses the sultan's name and the date 1208AH, which relates to 1794AD. Note the crescent moons, cross and pellets incorporated into the star, presumably representative of the heavens. The reverse carries the mint name, which if I researched it correctly, is Bariz (i.e. Paris, France). Although the piece looks to be hammered, coming from the Paris mint at this time rather precludes that I fancy. I have, however, included it in my hammered album too.

I went to la place de la Concorde on 17 April, 2022 to watch the old vehicles circulate as part of la traversee de Paris. The event had been cancelled twice, once due to Covid 19 raging out of control and once more due to atmospheric pollution conditions.
When the event finally took place it happened to be a gloriously beautiful day. It was warm and people seemed to be treating la traversee as a proper party. It was a much bigger gathering than I could ever imagine.
I worked two completely different style of images. The context switch between the two styles confused me a little, but I was able to settle down and eventually really "get into" trying to capture the event.
This style was created using a Sony A6000 and 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G-Master APS-C OSS lens and adding a Kodak film LUT to gently shift the colors.
The hot water circulating deep within the earth dissolves minerals from surrounding rock. As this water reaches the surface, it cools and the mineral re-solidifies into sinter, a silica rich rock of grayish-white color. Heat, water and minerals have combined to create the delicately scalloped rim surrounding the Punch Bowl spring.

This plant was a gift from IM (2008-03), as Adromischus schuldtianus subsp. juttae. This is a very old clone with no provenance that has been circulating under that name, but the flowers are Section 1, hence not schuldtianus. It is likely a form of Adromischus filicaulis ['fragilis'] (according to RC).

As digital technology advances at breakneck speed, Images are circulating quicker than ever before. But what is the status of the image in the digital era? We are joined by German art historian Dr. Hubert Burda for an examination of the “iconic turn” that our culture is undergoing.
A pioneer of the media industry will be presenting a concise history of images and how they function today in our digital world. Burda traces the connection between perspectival painting and the television, demonstrating how the image requires a frame, which in turn requires a material vehicle that in our era has become a non-material vehicle with its own formal parameters. Burda shows how images have always been linked to portability, but now migrate to an unprecedented degree, so that anyone with a personal device can globally disseminate, say, footage from a concert via Youtube.
In the latter half of the evening Dr. Burda will have a discussion with GAFFTA Chairman, Peter Hirshberg, about the effects of digital technologies on our society and the cultural implications that follow.

This circulates as L. anceps 'Tomiko' but is surely an intergeneric hybrid. It grows much like a L. anceps.
