Nick Alexander's "Handmade Drum Machine". I don't think the tile of this does it justice. Nick played it alonside a circuit bent game, but best of all when he first plugged it in it broke (the axel turned off its support) and he whipped out some pliers and set to work to mend it!

There is still a lot of empty space on the breadboard for sensors. In addition to its current "random driving" mode, I want to give it light-seeking and line-following modes.

The bumper that surrounds the robot is made from a strip of steel from an old windshield wiper blade. The bumper is hooked to the Arduino's electrical ground. When it it runs into something, the bumper rocks back against the paperclip which is screwed to a block of ShapeLock that is stuck to the chassis. The screw is also holding in place the wire that ultimately connects to the Arduino so that it can detect the collision.
The audience leave their seats and surrounds Roth Mobot during their performance at the Loopita theatre in the lower level of La Grande halle de La Villette.

Keyboard toy thingy with photo and touch control. The first bent goodie I ever painted. Turned out nice.
We are putting the final tweaks to our equipment before opening the doors and letting the audience into Loopita, in the lower level of La Grande Halle.

A closeup of the controls- all the original button openings were used for the theremin controls and output jacks (except one, for future use.)
The PAiA Theremax circuit used in this project provides control-voltage outputs for pitch and volume, which allows the instrument to control outboard equipment. This capability is easily exploited to allow the theremin to be used as a very responsive gestural controller. Interfacing with a microcontroller is a snap ;)
The oscillator inductors are exposed for tuning and you can also see the touch strips we added for manually applying 'modulation', along the top edge of the opening. More pics in the set: www.flickr.com/photos/imajilon/sets/72157629518599040/
