I live in a condo several stories up. This flower grows atop a concrete plant box outside our kitchen window. The plant box is mostly cement with tiny, one-centimeter holes bored through them, enough soil to keep plants like this alive.
The halo around the bud comes from the glimmer of a car parked across the street. The circular frame are the steel grills of our windows.
Its a holiday here in the Philippines. So a long weekend has begun for most people including me. Am starting to feel a bit better, but am still having a tough time breathing. Hopefully all this improves in time for the weekend. I wish you guys all the best. Here's to having a wonderful time doing the things you love with the people you love!
Oh and if anyone would be so kind to help me identify the flower. I would be more that appreciative so that I could put that in the notes here.
UPDATE: IDENTITY REVEALED! My sister Joanna just posted a message in the comments with the identity of this flower. Its' scientific name is Jatropha Podagrica more commonly known as a Buddha Belly Plant or Gout Plant. You can check the Wikipedia entry here.

I did this circle framing in an app called Truefilm and I discovered this app thanks to Beezzz_. I was visiting her uber-creative stream and was really taken with a particular image and how she had processed it. Thankfully she listed the apps she used which lead me to Truefilm; it's a fun app, and at only $.99 what do you have to lose? Go check out Beezzz_'s stream when you get a chance; she's really creative!
Our minds use stories to create what we consider reality. Stories we tell ourselves form the basis of our interaction with this universe. The mind is really an incredible thing: it literally is a tool we use to make the non-existent real. We can use it to do anything. To create anything. All we have to do is change the stories that we keep telling ourselves.

ohsleepless1!'s new Abstracts of Mother Nature pool got me thinking about an old shot of mine on Flickr and I decided to take a fresh look at it. The previous version cropped tightly in. This version shows the full image. We grew this photograph in our fridge. The technique is simple. Simply cook several beetroots in a circular pan, cover, and place in the refrigerator. Forget for at least two weeks, uncover, recoil, then rush for your camera.
