Text: Peter Horvitz. Julius Fleischmann (Left) son of the founder of Fleischmann's Yeast, was at the age of 29 elected Cincinnati's youngest Mayor and was from 1902 until his death in 1925 a co-owner of the Cincinnati Reds.
Judge Emil Fuchs (Right) had made his fortune as a lawyer, including serving as counsel to Andrew Freedman's New York Giants. He partnered with Christie Mathewson in 1923 to buy the Braves, and served as President of the club from 1927 - 1935. After a run of losing seasons, Emil named himself as Manager, with a promise to do better than his predecesssor, who had lost 103 games in 1928. Under Fuchs the team "improved" to only 98 loses.
