"Faerie Guard"

"The faeries that live at merridale orchard are quiet and peaceful.

They are notable to defend themselves and rely on the sentry who lives in this gatekeepers house, to warn them when danger is near.

And Scrumpy is his name."

Seeing these incredible miniatures, brought back some wonderful childhood memories of a place we called Faerie land.

It was a beautiful wooded garden belonging to a neighbour across from our family cottage. There, we gathered well water in glass milk jugs, but not before we ran with the faeries. Zig zaging through the magical trees, chasing each other to the rivers edge where the giant old wooden water wheel cascaded and soaked us in mist.

Those milk jugs were heavy and cold and the journey home seemed endless, but we couldn't wait to return...to the wonder of it all.

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”

― W.B. Yeats

#AbFav_FULL_on_AUTUMN_🍂

I've am feeling a dank, drizzly November in my soul, I headed to the woods.

The weeds now bowing and dark; there was a cidery smell of decay in the air, the dark winter waters lapping high.

I relaxed, breathing in deeply; a little light spilled just enough to make images possible, I tingled and warmed up inside, I’d found my images for the day.

It is a colour photo, not toned B&W. No PP

Wishing you a day full of good light and thanx for your visit, M, (*_*)

Blue Bee Cider

Richmond (Old Manchester), Virginia, USA.

19 April 2014.

Blue Bee is one of the first 'urban' cideries in the United States, and is the only such in Virginia. Apples are grown in orchards leased along the Blue Ridge mountains but pressed and fermented on site.

▶ Tasting Menu

Charred Ordinary

Hay, mushrooms, and bruised apple in the aroma. Dry and sharp with grapefruit and salt in the finish. Semi-sparkling.

0.5% residual sugar (RS), 8.4% alcohol-by-volume (abv)

Me:

---> My favorite - funky aroma, focused apple-skin and citrus flavors, and tart, refreshing finish.

Hopsap Shandy

Infused with Cascade hops, a cider with grapefruit, rose hips, and berries in the aroma. notes of citrus and green apple with lemon-peel finish. Semi-sparkling.

<0.1% residual sugar (RS), 8.0% alcohol-by-volume (abv)

Mill Race Bramble

Infused with raspberries and blackberries, a rose with aroma of citrus, rose, and cherry. Notes of cranberry and vanilla. Semi-sparkling.

0.8% residual sugar (RS), 7% alcohol-by-volume (abv)

Aragon 1904

Minerality/slight earthiness, pleasant tartness in the mid-palate, hint of salt and tropical notes of pineapple and banana in the finish. Semi-sparkling.

0.8% residual sugar (RS), 7% alcohol-by-volume (abv)

Me:

---> Sweeter and fruitier than the Charred Ordinary, but balanced with acidity and minerality in the finish. Fun!
