Floris heeft al tijden een chronische niesziekte. Af en toe wordt hij behandeld met antibiotica als hij er echt ziek van is, maar gelukkig is hij dat meestal niet. Wel vaak een snotneus of een beetje bloed uit de neus wat je als je goed kijkt kunt zien op deze foto.
Floris has had a chronic cat flu for a long time. Occasionally he is treated with antibiotics when he is really ill, but luckily he usually is not. Often a snot nose or a little blood from the nose, which you can see in this picture if you look closely.

A blue abstract for the Smile On Saturday: "Blue For You - ME 2023" theme
The blue in today's theme is to raise awareness and show support for those who suffer from ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) or Fibromyalgia.
Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a complication of pulmonary embolism and a major cause of chronic PH leading to right heart failure and death. Lung ventilation/perfusion scintigraphy is the screening test of choice; a normal scan rules out CTEPH. In the case of an abnormal perfusion scan, a high-quality pulmonary angiogram is necessary to confirm and define the pulmonary vascular involvement and prior to making a treatment decision. PH is confirmed with right heart catheterisation, which is also necessary for treatment determination. In addition to chronic anticoagulation therapy, each patient with CTEPH should receive treatment assessment starting with evaluation for pulmonary endarterectomy, which is the guideline recommended treatment. For technically inoperable cases, PH-targeted medical therapy is recommended (currently riociguat based on the CHEST studies), and balloon pulmonary angioplasty should be considered at a centre experienced with this challenging but potentially effective and complementary intervention.

This was taken using an off camera flash, a remote and two slaves (the slave to the left of this shot did not fire). I do need to improve my lighting system.
Pistache est allée chez la vétérinaire la semaine passée, les nouvelles sont poutôt bonnes. Elle a gardé son poids de 3kg ( bien sûr ce serait mieux qu'elle prenne du poids, mais au moins elle n'en a pas perdu) . Sa prise de sang est parfaite, à l'exception d'une carence en vitamines B12 qui pourrait explique sa diarrhée chronique. Elle a eu une injection et moi je dois lui donner une gélule tous les 2 jours. J'ai pensé que j'aurais du mal à donner une gélule relativement grosse, mais pour la première ce matin tout s'est bien passé. Ouf....
Pistache went to the vet last week, the news is pretty good. She kept her 3kg weight (of course it would be better if she gained weight, but at least she didn't lose any). Her blood test is perfect, except for a vitamin B12 deficiency which could explain her chronic diarrhea. She had an injection and I have to give her a capsule every other day. I thought I would have a hard time giving a quitte big capsule, but for the first one this morning everything went well. Phew....

Summer Garden Flowers - Feb 2021 - Santa Gemita-6
Living with chronic health issues is hard and that hit home Thursday evening. I went to go out to chase the aurora, but as I was driving, I became too sick and too weak to keep going. Looking back it was the Lord’s grace to get me back home as I would not have made it and the aurora came much much later than expected. However, there was a second chance of the aurora the following night. I decided to take a chance and this time my wife was able to join me. The conditions were far less favorable as it looked like we would be completely clouded over, so we prayed. We prayed that the clouds would clear and the aurora would hold up long enough. It was supposed to peak between 3-6pm, but instead it peaked between 7-8pm when we were there. The clouds cleared almost entirely and I shot this image just minutes before the moon rose and the aurora faded. The Lord literally made all of this possible! It truly was a redemptive night and one I am very thankful to have had!

The Luchtsingel and the adjacent Schieblock projects are interesting strategies that counteract the detrimental effects that the combination of modernist urban planning - with its rigorous segregation of work, living and commercial functions - and chronic high levels of vacancy of office buildings have on the liveability and vitality of the city centre.
Shown here is the Roundabput of the Luchtsingel. It offers a circuit of elevated walkways that pass through the Schieblock, crosses major roads and a railroad to offer the pedestrian new ways to discover the city, help them to avoid the anonymous and sometimes unsafe existing urban ground level and realizing a connection between emerging cultural hotspots in the Rotterdam Central and Noord areas. Funding: the municipality of Rotterdam and crowdsourcing / crowdfunding. For 25 € people could and can buy planks on which the name of the buyer is printed.
In the BG is the bridge that leads to the platform of the former Hofplein railway station. It crosses the 4 tracks of the Rotterdam-Dordecht railway mainline.

Ambalavao (Madagascar) - Cette scène est l’exception qui confirme la règle, selon laquelle au moins un élément humain doit figurer sur mes photos. En réalité, je photographie souvent les chiens et les animaux, plus généralement, mais si l’image n’est pas conforme à mon postulat, je la garde pour moi. Sauf aujourd’hui.
A Madagascar, il y a de nombreux chiens errants. Certains vivent dans de mauvaises conditions sanitaires et sont souvent squelettiques en raison d’une sous-alimentation chronique.
Si on souhaite voir des chiens un peu moins faméliques, ils faut se rendre sur les marchés et plus particulièrement à proximité des boucheries, où il y a toujours un os ou un bout de gras à glaner. Sur la photo ci-dessus, la boucherie est fermée. Les chiens montent la garde, à leur manière, devant la porte, en attendant l’ouverture.
Guard dogs
Ambalavao (Madagascar) -This scene is the exception that proves the rule, according to which at least one human element must be in my photos. In reality, I often photograph dogs and animals, more generally, but if the image does not conform to my postulate, I keep it to myself. Except today.
There are many stray dogs in Madagascar. Some live in poor sanitary conditions and are often skeletal due to chronic malnutrition.
If you want to see dogs a little less starving, you have to go to the markets and more particularly near the butcher shops, where there is always a bone or a piece of fat to glean. In the photo above, the butcher shop is closed. The dogs stand guard, in their own way, in front of the door, waiting for it to open.

A short chronology:
1883 Opening as " Institution for Epilepsy - Wuhlgarten near Biesdorf" (1000 beds); city building director Blankenstein realizes the principle: therapy, living and working under one roof. The hospital church is an integral part and property of the municipal institution.
1928 Renamed " Urban Sanatorium and Nursing Home Wuhlgarten" (1450 beds). Treatment of all psychiatric diseases.
1940/41 As part of the "T4 Action" (euthanasia), chronically ill patients are transferred to killing centers and murdered. The memorial stone on the old railroad track commemorates the victims.
1944/45 Bomb damage to hospital buildings and church; the memorial stone east of the main avenue commemorates the war victims.
1945 Partial takeover of the hospital by the Red Army.
1946 Reopened as a facility for the mentally ill (350 beds).
1950/1960 Profiled as a hospital for psychiatry, neurology and addictive disorders Renamed "Wilhelm- Griesinger-Hospital".
1987 Central clinic for psychiatry and neurology with research department

I think it's safe to say I am partial to historical villages and potential they hold for still life vignettes. I am especially drawn to old bottles. Sherbrooke Village has a wonderful apothecary store full of originally packages bottles, boxes and tins.
